Rush is coming through for us big time on this issue. He's had W's back so many times in the past I was afraid he'd be wishy-washy on this issue. But he's been anything but. I really think that knowing Rush will be supporting the House approach every day has stiffened the spines of the House conservatives.

Assuming the House keeps holding firm, I'd like to see Rush spend a lot of time highlighting the close House races this fall and encouraging his listeners not only to vote, but to volunteer, make their friends and family vote, etc.

I know, Rush has been pretty reticent to lay much of this on Bush, and I can empathize. I had to go through a few months of denial, having been a long-time supporter of GW, going back to his governorship. I kept thinking SURELY our President is just preoccupied with the WOT, and didn't REALLY mean that the MinuteMen were vigilantes. SURELY our President doesn't want such an amnesty travesty. SURELY he doesn't want to basically destroy the culture and composition of our country. Surely this, surely that. But, after a while, I just have to wake up.

It's been particularly hard on much of my family. Especially my sister. We made trips to Crawford, bought the oddball memorabilia; went to the Bush Library at College Station, etc. Nowadays, just the sight of GW on the television, and I see my relatives turn away their gaze, silently. It's really too upsetting for them to even air things out with talk.

Oh, well. Rush was terrific today, and I hope his support for our guys in the House helps strengthen their spines. The future of our country is in the balance.

Anyone who ever did think that this was actually about immigration is naive.

In short, Rush is saying what many of us have been screaming for a long time, namely that the Congress and the government more generally, is usurping power from the people.

We are headed for government of the people, by the government, for the government.

The judicial branch keeps usurping power via "discretion" which essentially allows any judge to do whatever the hell he pleases, which is why all kinds of child molestors e.g. are released with minimal to no punishments. The legislature is legislating its way into a choke hold on the people via treasonous laws in the areas of "campaign finance reform" and now this immigration BS. The executive Branch under W is feigning conservatism while all the while stabbling conservatives in the back.

It's getting out of hand, and America's citizens had better be prepared to do something about it.

Funny how the Beltway crowd (Fred Barnes, et al) are so dismissive of the "Talk Radio" crowd these days.

Note to White House and the RNC: dismiss "Talk Radio" at your own peril!

The Republicans up for reelection voted against the bill. That will tell you what's really going on. They know where the American people are on this.

I noticed this as well. They keep doing this it seems, which is a part of politics. But what's the answer? If no strong opponents run in the primaries...

One thing that I find is interesting that I've been in bigtime disagreement with Rush on is that he has always maintained recently that this nation is becoming more conservative. Yet, in this latest, and very accurate and solid diatribe, he is indirectly admitting that the opposite is happening politically.

Since none, or very few, of our elected representatives now actually do what they actually campaign on, this nation is not at all becoming more conservative. It's sliding towards liberalism at light speed.

This bill is senseless.

This bill could be an opening bid with lots of throw aways. It could be designed to scare the living daylights out of us, so that when a bill that contains exactly what we started out against, guest workers, ad nauseum, passes we will breathe a sigh of relief.

If that happens, it means that democrats and republicans, and both houses, will have worked together against the people. The implications are anyone's guess.

I hope to hell I'm wrong.

When it comes to political insight no one and I mean no one has the keen insights that El Rushbo has. He is right on. At the beginning of this debate he was just as much in the dark as all of us.

I sometimes disagree with Rush but by gosh his comments are absolutely correct on this bill.

The open borders Democrats and suck up RINOs can say what ever they want but this is a sham on all Americans.

Rush is completely right on this issue. I don't know where this country would be right now if Rush Limbaugh had not come on the scene 18+ years ago. HE is my American Idol.

What this is, is a huge attempt by certain politicians, mostly moderate and liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans, to expand the federal government, to increase the numbers of people in poverty in this country by importing them via this immigration bill, which will set up the need to expand the "social safety" net in this country, which will then empower those who believe in big government.

All it takes for evil to triumph is for Republicans to befriend, give in to, and act like, Democrats.

RUSH SAYS..." I think what's happening here, in addition to all that I've said, is that moderate Republicans are trying to destroy conservatives and conservatism.

Rush has seen the light. Thank God...cause hes a potent weapon.

Way back around the time of the Miers flap...I used the phrase "Coming Out Party" to refer to what I saw developing with the liberals, moderates / centrists in the Pub party.

What I meant, was that starting essentially with the second term in 2004, these lib Pubbie folks would make their move...to consolidate power and move the party to the mushy middle...where they feel it belongs...and where they feel they can capture the mushy moderate suburban yuppie / soccer mom Democrats who are not enthused with the Howard Dean eeeehyaww! approach to politics.

In order to do that..however, and have credibility with these Dem voters..they need a sacrificial lamb...a burnt offering of sorts to these lib and moderate Dem voters....to show them the Pubs are not really like...those folks....

Everyone who is educated, sophisticated, urbane, cultured, and successful knows that the average Conservative lives in a double wide...has bad teeth, and picks his nose at dinner.

What better offering to the Demographic Gods than Conservatives....the people everyone loves to hate.

"...liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans, to expand the federal government,..."

Expanding the federal government is the goal of EVERYTHING these people do. That should be axiomatic whenever you consider why they do what they do. Any bill for any reason is about expanding the federal government. These people are statists and totalitarians. They hate us and our freedom. Destroying our culture will produce anarchy which will lay the foundation for even more federal control, which is exactly what they want. The don't believe in freedom, they believe in government.

The RINOs are bent on taking back the party. Behind this bill the motivation is not so much as to bring in millions of Democrat voters as its to show conservatives their place. And if the House caves in, conservatives will be riding in the back of the bus in this country, not only in elections but in the GOP itself.
