Off to the Races
Joining approximately 1200 fans, the Harris for U.S. Senate campaign ventured out to the Desoto Super Speedway recently and Katherine quickly stole the show.
Jack Smith, a track official said, "Often, when a political candidate or even one already in office shows up at a race track, they do their thing, make their short speech, shake a few hands, and leave quickly. Not so with Katherine!
After taking time to talk to seemingly everyone in the stands, she moved to the flag-stand, officially started the race with the green flag, and later discussed gas prices, illegal immigration problems, and the economy, closing with, 'We're not ever going to let those boys in Washington tell us what we're going to do, we're going to listen to Floridians and take care of you guys back home!'"
So enthralled in speaking to fans and watching the race were Katherine and her husband, Anders, that they stayed at the race until well past 10:00 p.m. Summing it up for everyone, race fan John Sarppraicone stated, "A lot of politicians don't care about the everyday folks, and you know what, the everyday folks are what make this country. [Katherine] has a very positive attitude toward people...she can do some good for our country."
Katherine dropped the green flag to start the race and watched the "Harris for U.S. Senate" car driven by Bill Davis (#15 car/appropriately named "Miss Liberty") circle the track.
"Our Girl..."
Also last week, Katherine traveled to Daytona. Not for another race, but to attend the Volusia County REC's Lincoln Day Dinner with special guest Lynn Swann, former NFL Hall of Famer for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and current Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate. Hundreds of local Republicans gathered along with some of the most influential politicians in Florida for what was an amazing night.
As Katherine settled into her seat, a plentiful vinaigrette salad with hot rolls and iced tea before her, her attention pointed to the stage as the band played old jazz tunes. Suddenly the band-leader stopped and looked out among the crowd, and called four people to the stage.
Whispered murmurs heighten as attendees speculated about what was happening, as this was not part of the official program. Suddenly, intonations of chords of the song, 'My Girl,' reverberate off the walls. The quartet called to the stage began singing the song, but inserting the word "Katherine" to the lyrics. "Katherine, my girl, talking about, my girl, Katherine, oooooo-oooooo-oh! Katherine! Katherine!" Surprise, laughter, and smiles quickly followed, as a shocked Katherine beamed, ear-to-ear. What a way to top off the night! "I was so surprised at the 'serenade' by the quartet. I think we'll have to bring them along with us on the campaign trail," Katherine said.
"This is just the beginning for what promises to be an eventful campaign where we travel the state, meet with voters, and have some fun on the trail," Katherine added. For updated campaign information, news articles, pictures and videos, please visit our website at http://www.ElectHarris.org

Another incredibly shallow observation from Tennessee. It's worth as much as your vote in the FL US Senate election.
No, the much better question to ask is why there are certain people out there who do not want to see this woman run and have been sabotaging her campaign since she filed the papers.
The woman has a right to run for a Senate seat, does she not? She jumped in the race fair and square. If you don't like her - that's fine - but don't believe for a millisecond that any other candidate has a better shot at beating Nelson, without the grassroots who support Harris AND WILL NOT vote for someone groomed and picked by the RNC bosses. Yes, including Superman Jeb Bush.
Meeting and greeting the people reminds me of what our mayor, Phil Gordon, did when he was running for city council a while back. He actually came to neighborhoods and visited homes to tell people he was running for council. Novel approach these days! People really appreciate that kind of stuff...
She joins the rest of the hard-headed Florida delegation in postponing the inevitable.
Voters support Nelsom by 2-1. He looks better in comparison.
Julie; no surprise here with the, all knowing better out of State "poll-freaks" statistician's, scare tactics and mouthpieces or enablers for the "drive-by" L.S.M. WOW!
We sure saw how screwy polls (including all the exit polls) were in 2000, 2002, 2004 always showing the odds for all dims, but the final outcome became pale faces again and again for them and it has been that since 1994!!
Thanks for the Katherine ping Julie.. she continues to look good & does the right things it seems!
Thanks for adding that graphic of 'Bland as Buttermilk Bill"....don't you love the contrast between the 'Thumbs Up' photographs suggested by Mase?
In their infinite wisdom they think she can't win.
They have judged she's hopelessly "tainted" for upholding the Florida election laws in the Gore/Bush fiasco.
They are spineless RINOS
They don't want to go against the wishes of the powerful Bush/Bush combo who prefer to support RINO candidates over conservative ones in primaries.
They are afraid of Nelson's war chest.
They are even more infuriated and enraged that despite their deliberate and malicious lack of support, she's staying the course.
See Harris run.
See Harris win.

It's one of just a couple things I disagree with KH on. No candidate in Florida can get elected openly advocating for offshore drilling. It's unfortunate, but the ignorant will prevail in this state regarding that issue. She also supports federal funding of the arts. Once again, she and I disagree. However, Sarasota is the arts capital of the state. It's a position she needs to support to win independents in a district that is becoming less and less conservative.
Her ACU rating is 92. With KH, I get most of what I want. With Nelson, I get nada. I can't speak to her primary opponents except to say their chance of winning are even more challenging than hers.
Yes, Katherine does it the 'old fashioned way'.....she goes 'door to door' and walks into stores & shopping malls & county fairs.
With her warm out-going personality, she genuinely connects with people unlike 'bland as buttermilk' Bill Nelson.
The FL conservative grassroots love Katherine and are working hard to help her win the Senate for Florida and all of America.
We all need her conservative vote in the US Senate!
Riiiight. Nice two-step.
Thanks for stopping by, Dolly!
I thought you'd enjoy the latest photographs taken with race car 'Miss Liberty'!
LOL! I especially like the expiration date.
Denial isn't a river in Egypt. What is confusing about the idea that voters like Nelson more than Harris? It's clear and unambiguous.
Hi 'Bahama Mama'.....you look tanned and rested after the recent Freeper Cruise.
Are you ready to "Help Harris Run the Race?"
What about your Texas Congresscritters, sinkspur? What's their position on off-shore drilling?
What's really confusing is why a conservative on FR would prefer an ultra-liberal with an ACU rating of 4 over a conservative with a rating of 92. Denials notwithstanding, your position is also clear and unambiguous.
