Off to the Races
Joining approximately 1200 fans, the Harris for U.S. Senate campaign ventured out to the Desoto Super Speedway recently and Katherine quickly stole the show.
Jack Smith, a track official said, "Often, when a political candidate or even one already in office shows up at a race track, they do their thing, make their short speech, shake a few hands, and leave quickly. Not so with Katherine!
After taking time to talk to seemingly everyone in the stands, she moved to the flag-stand, officially started the race with the green flag, and later discussed gas prices, illegal immigration problems, and the economy, closing with, 'We're not ever going to let those boys in Washington tell us what we're going to do, we're going to listen to Floridians and take care of you guys back home!'"
So enthralled in speaking to fans and watching the race were Katherine and her husband, Anders, that they stayed at the race until well past 10:00 p.m. Summing it up for everyone, race fan John Sarppraicone stated, "A lot of politicians don't care about the everyday folks, and you know what, the everyday folks are what make this country. [Katherine] has a very positive attitude toward people...she can do some good for our country."
Katherine dropped the green flag to start the race and watched the "Harris for U.S. Senate" car driven by Bill Davis (#15 car/appropriately named "Miss Liberty") circle the track.
"Our Girl..."
Also last week, Katherine traveled to Daytona. Not for another race, but to attend the Volusia County REC's Lincoln Day Dinner with special guest Lynn Swann, former NFL Hall of Famer for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and current Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate. Hundreds of local Republicans gathered along with some of the most influential politicians in Florida for what was an amazing night.
As Katherine settled into her seat, a plentiful vinaigrette salad with hot rolls and iced tea before her, her attention pointed to the stage as the band played old jazz tunes. Suddenly the band-leader stopped and looked out among the crowd, and called four people to the stage.
Whispered murmurs heighten as attendees speculated about what was happening, as this was not part of the official program. Suddenly, intonations of chords of the song, 'My Girl,' reverberate off the walls. The quartet called to the stage began singing the song, but inserting the word "Katherine" to the lyrics. "Katherine, my girl, talking about, my girl, Katherine, oooooo-oooooo-oh! Katherine! Katherine!" Surprise, laughter, and smiles quickly followed, as a shocked Katherine beamed, ear-to-ear. What a way to top off the night! "I was so surprised at the 'serenade' by the quartet. I think we'll have to bring them along with us on the campaign trail," Katherine said.
"This is just the beginning for what promises to be an eventful campaign where we travel the state, meet with voters, and have some fun on the trail," Katherine added. For updated campaign information, news articles, pictures and videos, please visit our website at http://www.ElectHarris.org

No argument from me. If the election were held today I'd expect the GOP to lose both the House & Senate, giving the dems a strong mandate to proceed with their liberal agenda.
Thankfully, the election isn't today.
Look, in the interests of fairness and clarity, pointing out that KH is a poor candidate doesn't make somone like a DUer at all. It's just the truth. Indeed, the people with the problem are the ones who can't cope with that clear fact.
You're absolutely right. I humbly and most sincerely apologize to all the mental hospital patients in FL for being associated with the KH dieharders. They are at least receiving treatment for their maladies. Tootaloo.
It's just a riff on Micahel Savage's slogan 'liberalism is a mental disorder. Indeed, to be clear Savage says 'liberalism in its extreme form is more like a mental disorder than a coherent political philosophy.
'
So, it appears, is extreme conservatism.
DJ, do they think that Republican polling firms which have been accused of partisanship are manipulating their figures in Nelson's favor? That doesn't make any sense.
God Bless the veterans...
It's so much better having Mel Martinez in office. It's just wonderful having a Republican immigrant Senator pushing immigration reform (sarcasm).
Katherine Harris's ideology is not the problem. It's her complete lack of good political instincts. Unfortunately, it seems to be contageous.
I hope everyone down there is very aware of that fact...that she helped to get the cemetery. That should get some of the vet's votes for sure. I don't know that much about Florida's politics...I just think she deserves to win because she has worked so hard and persevered through a horrible smear campaign against her.
>>You know, saying that KH has no chance and is a joke of a candidate really brings out the worst in the Coco Puff KH Posse.<<
Yes indeed, you two are the ones whom are being defamitory !

It may not be a good idea to quote Mike Savage !
He has made very extreme remarks(sarcasm and slander) that indicate he is a blowhole like Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, and Al Franken - ofcourse not from the same side politically !
Mike Savage's slam against the Catholic Church indicate that though he is rightwing, he is not a Conservative .
Think about that ! !
Savage has been critical of the Catholic Church's handling of the child molesters in their ranks.
Savage has been critical of some in the Catholic Church who have been strong advocates of the illegal aliens and their agenda.
Savage is right on both counts, and I agree with him. I'm a lifelong Catholic, and a lifelong Conservative.
That pic of her on the horse was the first thing I thought of when I read this article. Here's a woman who's not a snob.
I am a woman and would love to have her body. Smart, too! Lucky lady.
Seriously, though, she's smart and principled. The people of Florida would do well to elect her to the Senate.
I haven't followed this, but you may want to check out post #13, rwa.
Back to you, JB>
BTTT
I luv the racecar idea.
Many FL Veterans groups have consistently endorsed Katherine Harris for her dedication to their needs.
They acknowledge to everyone that it was her personal efforts as Congresswoman that secured the National Cemetery for Sarasota County.
They are getting the word out to all FL Veterans.
Let's go Beautiful.
