SHEPARD SMITH JUST ANNOUNCED: HOUSE APPROVES ANWR DRILLING!!
[Too bad the senate will be a brick wall.]
The senate will do the same as they do with immigration, put on a dog and pony show to deceive the masses with misinformation and deceit.
"They are not supposed to. They exist as a body that stops public will exactly as the founding fathers had forseen. That is why they were given 6 year terms with only 1/3 up for election at any one time. They are the guarantors that things move slowly.
This has served us well for 200 years because while the Senate was slow, they were at least patriotic.
It is not serving us now, because the dems have decided that the way back to power is for America to fail and that means obstructing the republicans for the sake of obstruction. They have become the anti american party."
Thanks for your interesting point. I still think the Constitution is a great document. As you say, it is served us well so far. I am quite hopeful it will continue to do so.
However, if conservative Republicans continue to give those on the Left the benefit of the doubt, they will gradually destroy us. And unfortunately, people must come to the understanding that the Left has infiltrated the Republican Party to a certain extent. The Republican label still has meaning, but we also have to deal with people based on what they stand for. And anyone who claims to be a conservative Republican should be able to talk about what that means---on some level.
Look, friend.
Our energy dependency is the problem. I don't ever suggest that keeping the money here is a worse idea. I simply point out that our increasing consumption is the problem, and BOTH of those sources (of which i am aware: no need to insult my intelligence, thank you) will be insufficient to keep our money out of the hands of the likes of the Saudis: we cannot cover the demand domestically! and our demand continuously increases, so where are we going to turn when we can't cover it domestically? our dependency on foreign oil increases, and we will continue to support OPEC and otherwise irresponsible nations. I am calling for a larger assessment of our energy consumption and where it comes from. We have other options, and we WILL continue to increase consumtion. Only if we had another half-dozen ANWR's would it make a dent in our future energy dependency.
Please, don't put words in my mouth, and try to be civil
My point is, the "nut-cases" are going to profit from our INCREASED CONSUMPTION, because we can't possibly cover it with domestic supplies. Drill away! i'm not opposed! let's just be realistic!! it won't make a large dent, unless coupled with other, more forwar-thinking measures
moreover, NOT drilling is simply NOT the direct equivalent of sending beaucoup millions to the Saudis, because they're going to get those millions anyway, considering our ever-growing energy consumption. the amount we send them is on the increase, because so is our consumption level. so add in a pithy 1 million barrels to the deficit and yeah, we save some, but we are still going to be in a growing hole as time elapses. it's a quick "fix" that won't cut the amount we send to the Middle East over time, because that amount DOES NOT REMAIN FIXED over time. our consumption is on a steady increase, and domestic production is on a steady decrease. Domestic production including ANWR gets us back to mid-eighties levels of production, but that DOESNT factor in the much higher level of energy that we need in this day and age.
I think we should go back to letting the State legislators vote for our US Senators. Why did we ever switch?
Because of state legislatures like we have in PA.
interesting....that may be the answer, so I don't have to be politically savvy, just be up on my own states congressional members, geeeeze.
couldn't have said what you said any better, thanks.
"ANWR gets us back to mid-eighties levels of production, but that DOESNT factor in the much higher level of energy that we need in this day and age."
Bye-bye Cantwell. Hello Mike McGavick.
Hasn't the house repeatedly approved drilling in ANWR to only have the Senate stop it?
Somewhere between post 1 and yours at 270 are about 25 mentionings of this exact subject and responsive answers.
Perhaps thats a good sign that this shouldn't be filed under 'breaking news' but under 'business as usual' or ... Fox Blog!
Where it is posted is not the comment. Reading a few of the posts would have answered your question and you would not have had to post. But, then again, maybe that is just what you are needing to do, post for posts sake.
Are you the posting policeman or something? Have you told the other 25 people the same thing? Were you as condescending to them as well .... sheesh ... get a life.
I have one, apparently you do not. You have to see yourself too much.
Looking forward to eating caribou boiled in oil.
The House always approves it. The Senate will kill it.
Everyone has swallowed the "addicted to oil" pill. I personally believe that it is absolute insanity to leave the oil in the caverns of the bowels of the earth. Its there, there is more there to be discovered, we need it and taking it doesn't hurt a blasted thing. There is enough for increased consumption for multitudes of generations to come. Its just like the "melting glaciers" pill everyone has swallowed. Where glaciers are today, warm blooded animals and palm trees were a kazillion years ago, so. So what if it goes back that way. People just need to chill.
It sounds as though Barack Obama heard the out cry over his donation of ten billion dollars to Petrobas for drilling off the coast of Brazil. What was not so often mentioned is that the same company was granted the second highest value of leases in the Gulf of Mexico and is trying to buy the old ARCO refinery in Pasadena, TX.
At the same time that Obama was giving our tax dollars to a foreign oil company, Obama’s friend, George Soros, also made a huge investment in the company.
So, basically what happened is that Obama gave Petrobas the money for the Gulf leases and the oil refinery to go with them. He just ear marked the money for drilling off the coast of Brazil.
So, now he is trying to cover his butt by opening up the Alaska drilling.
I hadn’t heard Hussein opened up the Alaskan wilderness for drilling.
