SHEPARD SMITH JUST ANNOUNCED: HOUSE APPROVES ANWR DRILLING!!
or Coleman.
The American people need to clean out the Senate. Send the slimes back to the world they created. I don't care what party they're from. RINOs need to go!
They are not supposed to. They exist as a body that stops public will exactly as the founding fathers had forseen. That is why they were given 6 year terms with only 1/3 up for election at any one time. They are the guarantors that things move slowly.
This has served us well for 200 years because while the Senate was slow, they were at least patriotic.
It is not serving us now, because the dems have decided that the way back to power is for America to fail and that means obstructing the republicans for the sake of obstruction. They have become the anti american party.
Senate will vote with bin laden on this one.
"ANWR and our attempt to reduce our dependence on foreign dictators that hate America (like Hugo Chavez), for our oil is no distraction. It's every bit as important."
and they will STILL be trying to decide in 2010'
I was pointing out there are roadblocks put up by our own team. I dont support the dems on anything. They are never on "my side"..
bttt
Too bad the Senate will defeat it.
Jeesh, that's not even minimum wage. Don't tell Ted.
Oh wait, he probably already knows her.
I consider myself pretty smart...but I'm unclear on something.
If President Clinton (and T Roosevelt for that matter) can "stroke of the pen" claim millions of acres of forest as preserve....why can't Bush "stroke the pen" and open ANWR?
I've never seen that answered.

Reading this, I just had an off-the-wall thought (from an off-the-wall guy, of course!).
Considering its performance as of recent years, I wonder if the time hasn't come to Constitutionally ABOLISH the United States Senate.
We could either expand the existing House, or perhaps establish a "co-House" of Representatives, also elected to 2-year terms to be more responsive to the voters.
The Senate has become an _impediment_ to the Republic. Time to get rid of it, and replace it with a better institution.
Or, just get rid of it, period!

I like the idea of the state legislatures appointing the Senators for a maximum of 12 years.
The Senate used to have a special purpose when Congress was bicameral and Senators were selected by their State rather than elected. But, since Senators are elected by popular vote, the Senate is no more than another House. The US lost something important with that Constitutional Amendment, and it will lose another something important when it drops the Electoral College. Each step increases the power of FedGov and decreases the importance of States. Eventually it will be as Hamilton wanted.
So what.
the Senate will kill it. And when the Senate finds a way not to pass it, the House kills it. It's a little game they play with our national energy needs.
It won't do anything. The Senate will never pass this Anwar drilling bill.
Don't hold your breath, those putzes in the senate will put the kibosh on this.
