I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

Virtual fence sounds like the dog collars that zap when they cross a certain boundary.
I agree. Its completely disgusting...close the borders!
If the Republicans and or President Bush don't seriously fix this..they will be voted out of office...and it will be a long time before they can get back in.
I hope he can handle disappointment.
Well, there's a first time for everything.
>>>But the President has chosen political suicide despite warnings, so be it. <<<
Sad, but true. And he could have made a difference.
Does Bush think I am stupid? He wants to secure the borders now? WHY NOW? What happened in
2001
2002
2003
2004
2005
2006 so far
I am sorry but TOO LITTLE and TOO LATE Mr. President.
Don't feed me BS about wanting to secure the borders. AS IF this is a new issue?
Sorry but I doubt anything he can say will make me happy.
And it's for those who are coincidentally free of logic, manners, class, good sense and adherence to the mission statements of this site. among which is THAT WE SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT. No words are necessary ... just WORM the squirmy malcontents, so we can focus on the details of this speech.

Good outdoor work, at a decent wage. Sigh, those were the days.

I'm just curious as to why he chose this path..
He's not a dumb man..but surely he knows his base is very upset over this..
Thanks.
Of couse we can't have drones and virtual fences in the capital BECAUSE THEY DON'T WORK
I wonder how many will be appeased by this farce?
My virtual vote will go well with the virtual fence. LOL
silentknight...ha!
Gosh, I've ALWAYS watched the President's speeches and national addresses, but I don't think I have the fortitude handy for tonight. I'm afraid I'll hear things about "jobs Americans won't do" or guest-worker plans, and frankly, that will just finally push me over. My support of President Bush goes back to his days as governor here in Texas, and he's been great on many issues, but right now my support of him is basically hanging by a thread, and this little speech looks likely to irretrievably cause it to snap. It's really a sad day for me. It's just sickening, seeing the country being thrown away before my eyes, and a leader I once had faith in, now allied alongside the likes of Ted Kennedy, and in the forefront of the nation's headlong descent into third-worldom.

Oh, the "everyone is doing it" argument.
Are you in fourth grade?
LOL. I see that Democrats aren't the only cut and run people. Republicans are doing it too.
Well, they don't call Republicans the stupid party for nothing. Democrats depend on it and freepers are happy to deliver.
I fall closer to looking at it in reverse - Iraq is the distraction from his lack of enforcement of our borders....
And yes, the DU-idiots are in favor of anyone taking over our country - but they are currently pretending to be against illegal immigratin to have a point to argue..... and in the specific argument (even if we are sincer about the belief, and they just use it to be against Bush), I agree....Bush is dead-wrong.
