Today, our heroes reach their destination of our Nation's capital. May they have fair weather (the forecast is partly cloudy ) and a warm, supportive welcome. We already know the enemy will be there; what else is new?
Here's a line from a favorite song:
"When you reach your destination, the journey's just begun."
11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12
Upper Senate Park Following successful rallies across the Southwestern United States and in President Bushs hometown of Crawford, TX, the Minuteman Caravan is pushing through the South into Washington, D.C.
You know the tidal wave is building when more and more Latino and Black Americans are coming out against this threat on the republic.
The President has perhaps one chance on Monday to turn this thing around--if he doesn't, Heaven help us...
You have really got a busy schedule there. Thanks for filling us in on how it all turned out this evening. Lyman Stucky is a real trooper... I knew he would want to make it over to WR. He was talking about it earlier in the week as well.
I've noticed you've had quite a few wounded troops join you in your FReeps as well. It's great to see their faces and that you all have a chance to get acquainted.
Thanks again, Kristinn, for letting us know about the C-SPAN broadcast this morning. And I see how you appreciated meeting The Spirit of Allegiance and Mr. Lyman Stucky.
It has been my pleasure to be a remote reporter for this historic journey. Thank you, Doug, for the opportunity.
Okay... end of ceremonious speech....LOL.
It takes a lot of time to keep up a thread and answer the posts for 10 days running. I especially like the way the MM, FR, PW, and other conservative groups are starting to cooperate in each others events. If we have a few from each group, then we'll have a big crowd.
Also, numbers talk, so while each group can make a slow grind difference (some faster), working together is better.
The troops at Walter Reed really appreciate not having CP outside the gates aggravating them. With the warm weather, soldiers are constantly walking/driving through the gate.
Please let us know when the MM get home safely.
Again Thanks to you all and the MM.
[Mr] T
I hope people are still helping Lyman with gas money. He needs the help to get home.
Thanks for the update! Wish I could have been there.
Working together is better. And I want to continue that cooperation, which we plan to upon the Caravan's return to CA.
I regained contact today with pace car driver Lyman Stucky who gave me more of a Washington D.C. after-report as follows. Today, we spoke while he drove through Pennsylvania, West Virginia and into Ohio.
Yesterday morning, before the D.C. rally, Lyman was interviewed by a news team from Switzerland and by students filming a documentary re the Minuteman Project. If we get more details on that, will provide later.
After the rally outside the U.S. Capitol, 10 of the MMP volunteers visited some Senators' offices, starting with Sen. Jeff Sessions, to thank him for the work he's done on behalf of American citizens. Other offices visited were those of Sens. Alexander, Frist, Feinstein, Brownback, Coryn, Hagel and McCain.
Mr. Stucky told me how he was inspired, when signing Hagel's guestbook, to write down at length his thoughts and feelings about what our Senators should be doing to stem illegal immigration ... which does NOT include the amnesty as proposed in Hagel's bill.
He did the same when the Minuteman team visited Senator McCain's office and, as Lyman describes it, there they met rejection instead of reception. As the volunteers were holding forth in a "polite but firm, insistent tone" with McCain's staff, a woman emerged from a side door of the office and stated that if the group did not leave immediately, she ("Ms. Frosty") would call Capitol police. We had to make up a name for her, because she would not give her name when asked by our heroes so, rather than pushing their luck too much, they left, having been summarily "thrown out."
Lyman also described his visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he gained entrance to the grounds and drove his car, The Spirit of Allegiance, up to the dorms where the single, wounded troops reside. The troops showed great interest in his car and they all visited for awhile. Lyman was thrilled that a FReeper gave him a generous sum to help with his gas expenses.
Last night, the Caravaners were guests on a Maryland farm for the night. They will be returning as fast as possible.
Well, they made an impact.
God Bless them all.

McCain is in league with Kennedy,Pelosi and the other radical marxists!
Yep, and McCain's staff sounds as tightly wound as he is.
Must be miserable in that office.
We've had some of our AZ FReepers call that office, only to encounter some miserable hag that tells us that we should be paying more taxes. It sounds like her.
I think I'll Fed Ex some of these for her, to help her with her obvious lack of fiber in her diet:

I cannot believe that.Words fail me.
His arrogance, on the subject, in his round of speeches here in AZ during the last break for Congress spoke volumes.
Yep. That'll be all that's left...
LOL. Yes, when I called, the lady told me we need to take in "everyone who wants to come." To hel# with paying more taxes - we are all rich anyway and need to support the rest of the world.
Obviously McCain hires leftist staff.
Thanks for the ping LE
Thanks, again, Ench for your devotion to keeping the rest of us informed. I know everyone appreciates it.
My pleasure, Czar.
Hugs and Happy Mothers' Day!!
Lyman is easy to talk with and we have a lot of laughs as well as the serious stuff.
