ORLANDO, Fla. - President Bush, his approval ratings at a record low, acknowledged Wednesday that war in Iraq and rising gas prices have created "battle fatigue" among many Americans.
That anxiety, Bush said, has settled over much of the nation as people worry about whether the United States will succeed in Iraq and how they will afford to fill up their tanks.
"There's a sense of disquiet because of the war in Iraq," said Bush, in an hour-long interview with the Orlando Sentinel and six other Florida newspapers.

All the Bush bashing is getting tiresome and disgusting. It's like "DU lite" without the cursing.
Bush and everyone else in Washington has poll numbers well below 50 per cent which indicates to me that the same old spin doesn't work anymore. Maybe they should try some old fashioned stuff like don't pass any news laws until they have political will to enforce the ones on the books and you cannot increase government spending with money that has to be borrowed.
There was this:
Though Bush spent much of his time talking about the Iraq war and gas prices, he also addressed a handful of other issues. Among them:
Immigration. As the Senate resumes work on immigration reform, Bush repeated his support for a guest worker program. "Hopefully we can get a bill out that reflects the principles that I've espoused, which is a strong border security measure, coupled with interior enforcement, measures that will be effective, coupled with a temporary worker program." One of the prerequisites to citizenship, he said, should be to learn English.
It sure is!!!
No problem with that aspect of his leadership, he has shown resolve where the war on terrorism is concerned. However, particularly in his second term, Bush has fumbled the ball on damn near every play ... he's lost touch with the real world.
Rove to Bush:
But at least Americans still love your immigration policies, sir.
People are bailing out because they have lost the confidence they once had in Bush's leadership to solve problems. Major matters are being kicking down the road to a next President.
-no end in sight for trade to produce good paying jobs as favorite trading nation China keeps up the sucking sound,
-completing the Israel-Palestine two state solution central to ME peace,
-continuing flood of illegals,
-no plan for our troops to stand down and return,
-constant pumping of dollars, low interest rates and tax cuts into the economy has not achieved the job and stock economy of Clinton.
-more and more Washinton government.
His Alamo now is down to serious investors and apocalyptic believers that the end is near and war will bring salvation.
It is no accident or geo-political game.. its serious business... ON PURPOSE.. Bush is globalist.. Considering what a globalist could gain by a huge influx of people into the political process that could care less about borders.. is obvious..
Sniff. Sniff. Are the kitties about?
Check post #68. That goes for you too, in spades.
The borders are only disscussed with V. Fox. Not the American people.
The media would love this thread. It would give them encouragement that their relentless attacks on Bush have finally eroded his base. Meanwhile, the left is crowing "We told you he sucked!"
Curious that he never mentions the outrage over illegal immigration.
He doesn't know.....................
Me Too!
(a) illegal immigrants and
(b) uncontrolled spending,
(c) abysmal pubic relations efforts against opponents of the war on Islamic terror.
He's tone deaf, color blind, and psychologically in denial.
He is right. The NEA has done a good job of dumbing down Americans and now the Old Media is very effective. The fact that the Iraq war is necessary, the fact that we are being kept safer because of it, is lost on the average Amercian. In addition, the fact that the President has no way to control the cost of gas is lost on the average American.
I know the average FReeper is much more knowledgeable so we have real issues, but in my experience, the average American can't hold a candle stick to the average FReeper. To them it is gas prices and a drawn out war.
And you call ((ME)) kooky?..
You usually like to play the "moderate".. so did Neville Chamberlain.. and does John McLaim..
If a major storm hits my area I don't want the President walking around shaking hands and nodding his head. I don't expect him to know the ends and outs of Texas. (well ok, I would expect him to know a little more than a foreigner:') Anyway that is my Governors job. If I should act like NO and cry and demamd more and more while bad mouthing him, I give him permission to tell me "fine, fix it yourself", put the money tree on a flat bed and tell Fema to go home. NO was an opportunity for his enemies. Do you still hear about problems in Florida? Mississippi, what about Houston?. Why not? They all suffered damage. You have to ask yourself, could you have done better in NO? The writing was already on the wall.
I've completely given up on Bush at this point.
Yes I do. I'm really surprised you're still here, given your loony Birchite notions in EVERY post1
