ORLANDO, Fla. - President Bush, his approval ratings at a record low, acknowledged Wednesday that war in Iraq and rising gas prices have created "battle fatigue" among many Americans.
That anxiety, Bush said, has settled over much of the nation as people worry about whether the United States will succeed in Iraq and how they will afford to fill up their tanks.
"There's a sense of disquiet because of the war in Iraq," said Bush, in an hour-long interview with the Orlando Sentinel and six other Florida newspapers.

Wel well! Who ya gonna believe? What President Bush says or what President Bush says.
What a dilemma, someone should let him know, "Flip-Flop" didn't work for Kerry.
Oh wait, it's not the President, it's Sinkspur who is saying that he's not saying what he says.
Never mind.

Time to take some Dramamine, the "Stuck on Stupid" crowd from DU is back!
There must be some kind of bugspray we can use to get rid of them.

Nobody's invading your privacy. Nobody gives a damn what you do or who you talk to UNLESS you're doing something with or talking to al-Qaeda.
Although rare, it is nice when sinkspur says something that I 100% completely agree with.

He is in denial respecting the invasion of our nation by Mexico and his refusal to enforce the rule of law and protect us from the invading forces.
He therefore is in denial that impeachment proceedings awaits him come 2007.

No, he never said that he didn't look at the polls in general. He doesn't use polls to make decisions. That is a completely different issue. If he doesn't use them to make decisions, then why even look at them?
Why waste precious time if there is no use for them.
To: Liberty Valance
Not fair weather friends, but rather, true red blodded American conservatives, who BTW, have had enough of GWB's anti American positions of late.
Do you require me to remind you of his liberal transgressions?
To: sinkspur
He lied only if you believe your mother lied to you when she told you she had to look under the bed to make sure there were no spooks there. Bush has to treat the media, Bill O'Reilly, and Democrats like children.
And some Republicans, apparently.
Do you really believe the drivel you come up with to support your untenable positions?

Curious that he never mentions the outrage over illegal immigration.
What is it with POTUS and senor Fox anyway? Can't one of Bush's high powered advisors tell him:
"No Mas ilegal inmigración, por favor!"

Well, he's used the old Ronald Reagan strategy.
Make decisions based on what is right and best for the country given the facts on the ground; aim for a goal, but understand that you may have to compromise in order to move the ball down the field; then look at the polls to determine the best course of action in selling a policy as well as assess what you need to do to win an election.
I'll see if I can find some info for you on that approach from the old Lee Atwater days. It may be this evening before I can do it since I'm headed out for a bit.

Hey, DTX, here's a thread you might find interestering. It's from the BBC, but that shouldn't bother you.
Here's a piece of advice and you can take it for what's it worth.
Don't send or recieve phone calls from terrorist and Al Queada, and you'll be ok.

No he doesn't. He threw that out there to shut the liberals and the media up.
Yeah and he only signed CFR (after saying he would veto it) because he thought the USSC would overturn it.

Not to interrupt need for sarcasm... :-)
If you read my post and the post it addressed, you understand the point was that the President wasn't unaware of what was driving down poll ratings. Even if it's noticeable he left a few key reasonings off.
Nowhere do I justify the attitude of the GOP leadership towards its base.
Just so we are clear. My only disute was that he was unaware. He is not.

I don't see your contribution as being knee-jerky in the slightest. Comment #2, on the other hand, hits the trifecta. Hot button issue of the moment, rapid response, and failure to read the entire article. They don't get much better than that.

Problems in Iraq would not drag his JA below 40. The reason so many on this thread say it the border problems that's dropped his JA so low is because he's alienated his base with his obstinate insistence on a temporary worker program, and THAT'S the reason his JA is running in the low 30s.
Only fools without reasoning skills would blame the President for high gasoline prices. That means only Dimocrats, who already are included in the job disapproval ratings, so that's not a significant factor in his JA dropping well below 40, IMO.
