Student suspended for singing `threatening' song
by The Associated Press
SUWANEE - A student at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee has been suspended for a week after a teacher accused her of singing a threatening song in class.
Sixteen-year-old Beth Ann Cox admits singing the parody of ``On top of Ol' Smokey,'' but she denies any wrongdoing.
She was suspended yesterday for five days.
The lyrics that alarmed the German teacher were, ``On top of Ol' Smokey, all covered with blood, I shot my poor teacher with a .44 slug.''

When I was in high school we used to sing:
Everywhere you go
And everyone you see
Is getting high on pot
And dropping LSD!
Hey hey we're the junkees
And the narcs try to give us the bust
But we're too busy tripping
To worry 'bout the cops getting us.

Good grief the songs of my youth woulda had me hung.......
Glory glory hallelijuah
Teacher hit me with a ruler
I met her at the door with a loaded .44
Now she aint my teacher any more.
Glory glory hallelijuah
Teacher hit me with a ruler
I met him at the bank with M1 Abrams tank
Now he aint my teacher any more.
And a gazillion more like it.

We have seen the coming of the burning of the school,
We have tortured every teacher, we have broken every rule.
We are going to hang the principal tomorrow after school,
Our troops are marching on.
A 1977 classic!

A 1977 classic!Sorry, that was a hit at least 10 years before 1977.
It's the verse, and Festus (and a few others earlier) just posted the chorus. ;-)

I hadn't heard the Barney songs, but it's probably not too long before the grandkids regale me with them. ;-)

Is that any different than a FReeper suspended for expressing disgruntlement at Bush for spending too much of her money? or not supporting her on immigration?
(I support Bush on immigration. I oppose big government on the border just as I oppose big government in prescription drugs and NCLB)

Here's the version I learned:
On top of old Smokey
All covered with mud
I found my poor teacher
all covered with blood
A knife in her stomache
an axe in her head
I found to my joy that
my teacher was dead
I went to her funeral
I went to her grave
instead of roses
I threw a grenade.

This is retarded. I sang these songs right along with all my classmates in elementary and middle school.
Heck I'm sitting here singing them now and my wife is begging me to move on to the next thread ;-)

Hobblemaster my old friend. Do you know the Klingon proverb that tells revenge is a dish that is best served cold? It is very cold....in space!

When I was wee child, I watched a high school burn to the ground while the high school students sang that ditty.
The whole town stood well back, watched, listened and made jokes about needing hot dogs and marshmallows.
That was nothing else to do as the fire had overwhelmed the volunteer fire dept and the one from the big city near by did get there until it was too late.

"Comet! Will make your teeth turn green!"
I remember that one!! And I just sang it to my 8-year-old daughter. She loved it!
