U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

There is no viable 3rd choice, unless enough people show their disgust and go elsewhere.

It has to begin somewhere. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."

We are being invaded to the tune of 12+ million and you want the Mexican government to have a chat with the American who arrests each invader?

That's the way the law works. I thought this whole issue was about people obeying the law. I guess that you agree with the pro-illegal activists that some laws need not be obeyed...

You can't equate this invasion with a hit and run accident by a GI in Japan. You can't be serious.

I am very serious. You want a world where Americans visiting other countries become fair game to "disappear" if they ever encounter a cop?

Minutemen do not make arrests, and you know it.

Then this doesn't come into play, then. No problem.

It's going to be very hard to take this alleged WOT very seriously until I STOP seeing security personnel shaking down gray-haired white folks in airports and START seeing the same tactics employed on the border by thousands more personnel determned to keep a larger % of invaders out of this country.

Until then I'll consider all this HomelandSec just a bunch if BS that has a much larger and more comprehensive goal in mind .......in most likely the not too distant future.

You sure that was really why?

Well I sent the admins a FreepMail to ask for this thread to be moved to Breaking News since my thread was there and had almost 100 replies in less than 5 minutes before it was pulled.

This thread doesn't seem to have been moved to Breaking News so I guess we have our answer.

As I saw it, we had two choices in '04: Either we handed our collective arses to the UN, or to Mexico.

In hindsight I would have to agree with you.

"Last time I looked, it still said "We the People" on the Constitution. It's the elected officials WE put in charge that are committing treason against US.

Didn't actually think it needed more clarification.

Oh, I think those elected officials we keep electing time and time again could use the clarification. Good luck with that.

Strict or biased?

We'll see - I'm sure that other stories will come out soon on this subject that offer more information. It will be interesting to see how those threads are treated.

I am sorry, but I have been voting Pubbie for over 40 years (one exception Ross Perot) and I have to say this is where I jump off this ship! I am joining the chorus of "IMPEACH BUSH". He is NOT working to secure the borders, and in fact doing the exact opposite just so his big corporate buddies can have slave labor at slave wages. I am changing my voting registration to Independent this afternoon.

"Minutemen do not make arrests, and you know it"

This has been pointed out to him repeatedly. And he keeps on ignoring the truth.

Homeland Security is having a shot gun, rifle, and a good pistol, in your home with the skill and will to use it rationally. The Department of Homeland Security is nothing but a high position jobs for friends program IMO. It wasn't needed and it has made a mess of things.

I absolutely agree with you. Bush has been a big disappointment. He's abandoned the conservative agenda and cannot rally members of his own party.

I really have to wonder what he is thinking. Does he really feel this strongly about this issue or is he just getting really bad advice?

TJ Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing more than 10,000 Border Patrol agents, said agents have complained for years about the Mexican consulate's influence over the agency.

It does make one wonder what the heck is going on doesn't it? The lack of respect for American sovereignty is one of the main reasons that voters rejected Kerry.

Interesting analogy except that reaching the end of the universe requires leaving this planet.

So our government is in bed with the Mexican government? Boy howdy! Does that ever answer a whole bunch of questions.

Wonder how many other degenerate governments and diabolical entities our government is siding with against our own citizens and to the detriment of our country?

Looks like we are on our own and outnumbered worse , than our valiant founding fathers were when they arose against governmental tyranny.

From the article: "Martinez said Mexico's official perception of the civilian groups is that they are vigilantes, a belief the Border Patrol hoped to allay by entering into the cooperative agreement."

And we care about Mexico's "perception" WHY??? As with wiretapping, my opinion is that if you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear. If the Mexicans want their "migrants" to be safe, have them apply for green cards and follow the (laughable) legal process.

Concerning this story, 'and the hits just keep on coming'.

Is it the beginning of our Balkanization?

Here it is basically. Bush from the beginning has surrounded himself with long time Friend of Family Yes Men. They were basically the same ones that Poppy had and failed. Don't tell him what he needs to know or you will be fired. Tell him only what he wants to hear and he still believes by what he is being told from his chosen that "All is well". I think that is most of his problem. Not a meanness but rather an arrogance that controls his thinking.
