This proves how pointless her columns are, and why I won't even click on this to read it.
Plus, if YOU think it's a good column, I know I don't want to raise my BP by reading it.
Osama is probably dead, dying, or out of the loop, and Osama is not the problem. He's ancient history by today's standards.
The problem is Islam. Bush is obviously trying to cultivate the supposedly "moderate" Muslims by things like the latest deal with Dubai (where they are buying a UK company that makes US military equipment) to prove that the problem is not Islam and we can trust them. Nothing in the 1400 years since the birth of that insane death cult - actually a variant of the Arian heresy with a particularly violent monomaniac as a leader - has ever given anyone any reason to trust them, and I think he's making a serious mistake by even pretending to do so. For one thing, "moderate" Muslims have historically always been stomped and taken over by the more radical groups, who are actually the orthodox ones and are perfectly right in regarding the moderates as heretical by Muslim standards.
If the problem were only one person, Noonan's article might make sense. But that's not the problem.
My guess is that OBL is dead of his sickness or in Iran being protected and there's a tough decision gonna have to be made about that. My guess is that any action on that will come after the 2006 elections - however they turn out, especially if one of the legistative houses is lost to the dark side..
Exactly. She is starting to believe the democrat talking points. There is a good possibility he is in Iran... slightly out of our reach.
Noonan has lost her touch. She's clearly out of the loop, and is stuck in some kind of thinking that bin Laden is important. There is no evidence that he is in charge of anything, or that al-Qaeda has much influence anywhere anymore. It was all over the media that al-Qaeda is abandoning Iraq because, in spite of the car bombs, they can't stop anything; the Iraqi government is formed, and is moving forward.
Just Peggy trying to get some attention by piggybacking onto Tony Snow's wonderful new job.
I agree Miss Marple...too soon everyone forgets the efforts of our troops to find Osama ..the bombings, the numerous terrorists that have been captured...maybe Peggy Noonan should visit free republics' site that list names on the terrorist round-up! I am in awe at what our troops have accomplished!!!
How long did it take us to find the abortion bomber that hid in NC? and to find many criminals in the USA? this is not an easy task...Noonan can easily play the blame game from her safe cushy office and be another armchair quarterback.
LOL...I agree with you...I didn't read the whole column, it seems that Peggy jumped the shark a few years ago for whatever reason...
AND, there have been current military that have said that Afghanistan had as many troops after the war in Iraq started as before...they just changed some places...
AND, I dare Noonan go to Afghanistan and ask the troops why they haven't found Bin Ladin.
Hmmmm, I suppose the next thing you'll be telling us is that the 130,00+ troops in Iraq are also feverishly on the trail of Osama. To hear and see this administration carry on about the WOT, they'd have us think that Hussein was the culprit that started it all and now his a** is ours, at the same time Bin Laden is nothing more than a fleeting memory whose capture is no longer relevant.
It's like letting up on capturing the bank robber because we have his cousin's girlfriend's baby sitter in custody.
After 9/11 Bush started flailing and at first it was impressive and made him look presidential but when the smoke settled and the world saw he was flailing in the wrong direction his image changed from presidential to Dufus in Chief.
I basically agree with you. But after seeing how bad our domestic border policy is here I suspect we could be doing more to find OBL.
