I had forgotten that she had suffered the loss after the 1969 shocker. I really feel sorry for her, I hope another Family member takes over for Patrick in her Guardianship.
Yes, Caputo gets annoying with that stuff. I also like the Beltway Boys, but that's about it. I really hope that they keep the Opinion Journal show on, it's for grownups.
I will pass it on, it really hits the mark.
Years ago, there was a CIA agent found dead in his veh(apparent suicide), and this was when Porter Goss was head of the House Intelligence committee, and Boob Graham at the time was his counterpart in the Senate. He (Goss) was cold as ice about the entire matter, and even though they tried to point fingers at him as the reason why the Guy killed himself that was put to rest. I have been curious for years about this, and I believe I will do a search in a few minutes to assuage my curiosity.
What I MEANT to say, was that you have piqued my curiosity as well. Please let me know if you find anything.
Thanks for the great company and chat once again and of course great info.
Off to watch some TV - catch you later.
As a former naval officer, I couldn't let it pass.
The border patrol ain't cutting it and they are too tied up with "la Migre" to be anything but "the enemy" to immigrants. If they are moved in as part of the CG structure you have a very good beginning of the force structure necessary. Add in the MEU type RDF under the CG command structure and tradition and I think you have a winning formula. It's all about how they are perceived.
I don't know if you are aware of what logistical support and training you need for a MEU, but it is not small. I have no idea what kind of force structure you are proposing, but it would probably result in the doubling of the Coast Guard. I just think what you suggest is a viable or desireable solution. I was in the Gator Navy and know a little about MEU's from Vietnam. I also spent a year ashore in Danang supporting them. Asking the Coast Guard to do a mission they have never undertaken before seems like a non-starter to me.
The BP has an image which is both incapable of doing the job and universally perceived as "the bad guys." How many movies can you think of where border patrol types were the bad guys? I can think of quite a few. Now, how many movies can you think of with CG types as the bad guys? I can't think of any. And the drug cartels would s**t bricks.
Perception aside, the objective is to secure our borders. It can be done if we provide the requisite resoures to the BP. We don't need to give another mission to the CG to do that. In that retard, the DHS was unnecessary as well. It is part of the way Washington gives the illusion of solving problems, i.e., moving the organizational boxes around.
Is Conyers going to run his own impeachment hearing, for using his employees to babysit his children and be nannies 24-7 for weeks at a time? I think that would be lovely. The dems will not take over the House or the Senate, and in their case they better be careful for what they wish for with impeachment. Let's see Rockefeller,Jefferson,Mollohan just a start,Durbin,Reid, etc.
Isn't it surprising the Stone-age Press is predicting a huge Rat win. I'm still getting over Kerry's victory. The only people I take less serious than PravdABDNC are the Bushbashers here. I suspect half are Seminar Freepers.

Sorry, Cain's making too many negative blanket statements here ...
"Republicans have further wasted their majority status by barring U.S. companies from tapping domestic sources of energy, and by not easing the regulatory burdens on constructing new nuclear energy facilities."
Actually the 2005 Energy Bill *DOES* ease regulatory burdens on new nuclear nergy plants, and the changes are encouraging a new ear of nuclear power plant construction. A dozen are on the drawing board.
As for the domestic drilling, the #1 item is ANWR, and it is Senate Democrats who have stopped that.
It think these kinds of negative assessments are not helpful, when you look at it, not enough is done, but sending only the negative signals leaves as wrong a message as saying that nothing is wrong.
Another example: extending the tax cuts. The GOP have a deal to extend them 2 more years. We know the Democrats will not extend them AT ALL and the result would be a huge recession.
Has anyone noticed the first picture Pelosi's expression seems to be " uh crap how do I get out of what I just said"
And the second picture seems like " C'mon Tim your on our side"
I am like a mongoose when I search, I got the fever when I would do criminal histories to nail people that lied when they were arrested. That FPC (finger print classification) nailed plenty of criminals. Today Dna is nailing them, but that takes more time, and they are usually not in custody any longer.
"Resolved, that this convention does explicitly declare, as the sense of the American people, that after four years of failure to restore the Union by the experiment of war, during which, under the pretence of military necessity, or war power higher than the Constitution, the Constitution itself has been disregarded in every part, and public liberty and private right alike trodden down, and the material prosperity of the country essentially impaired, justice, humanity, liberty, and the public welfare demand that immediate efforts be made for a cessation of hostilities, with a view to an ultimate convention of the States or other peaceable means, to the end that at the earliest practicable moment peace may be restored on the basis of the federal Union of the States."
- Democratic Party Platform, 1864
Priceless ... the untold story is that the Democrats, like the Dems of today, was split between the copperheads who wanted to bug out and the McClellan types (think Wes Clark, Biden etal) who thought they new better than Lincoln how to win the war. ... the result was a schitzoid party with no clarity of how to win the war or even if they wanted to. They just wanted to be not-Lincoln.
DEMOCRATS: A PROUD TRADITION OF BUGGING OUT OF WARS SINCE 1864.
