Press conference at 1:45
The better money will bet there is a "scandal" here somewhere. No notice, sudden resignation, no replacement.
I think someone has something and will reveal it in the next day or so.
I have no idea what it may be, but it may not seem scandalous to most, but the average six-pack schmo, who is dumb as dirt anyway, will say "how could he?"
Look at the article that the nutty, ex-CIA, Ray McGovern (the guy who heckled Rumsfeld) wrote on Porter Goss. How many more nuts like McGovern are still at the CIA?

It has nothing to do with backbone. The President must weigh the overall objectives against supporting Goss. If there was a widespread mutiny within the agency against Goss for whatever unknown reasons, then the President must listen and take what action is necessary. Keeping an ineffectual Goss in power would not make sense.
Since it has recently been alleged in some press accounts, and we know the FBI is running around digging, as are many reporters, the timing does fit.
But I freely acknowledge it could be something completely different, and he may have never been in a "hospitality suite." But speculative accusation, followed by outraged denial, followed by resignation with no explanation is not a novel turn of events in DC.
neo Kristol is having a kitten - he didn't know before - true colors always show up ........
Bob Barr. Just what we need. Another black Republican blasting the President.
have a great weekend, pinz
>>I thought they were joking?
The mods weren't. Check conservativewasp's account status.
In all of the brouhaha-I missed the effective date. Did they say?
And Fox has Kristol....bad news for Bush....bad, bad news for Bush.....horrible news for Bush.....terrible, just terrible, for Bush.....
Breaking news....part of WH shake-up. OOOPS....Kristol is wrong, once again! ROFL
Is that the same CNN that many Freepers consider a reliable source for their illegal immigration fix? (Because FNC dropped the ball,see...and the commie news network happened to be ready, willing and able to fill the void and yada, yada, yada).
He's an idiot. CNN had him tie this in with Duke Cunningham. He stuck up for Goss saying knowing him he wouldn't be involved but his underlings that he appointed may be.
It has been over used, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Oh, I remember that now; I didn't make the connection.
Thanks.
After listening to Chris Wallace, it sounds like this was part of the shake up plan. I think the MSM is shocked this wasn't leaked to them sooner, so they're all speculating that it's something horrible. heh, heh.
There to stab Bush in the back, no doubt.
This kind of sudden resignation sometimes precedes an ugly revelation. But I don't think it is Goss himself.
~agreed
He doesn't know. If he did know he would be blabbing it, not throwing out guesses.
I'm listening to Bill Kristol too, and man oh man, he's semi-predicting some ominous reason why Goss is resigning so quickly. (I read Goss himself took a lie detector test, as the CIA looked for leakers.)
Chris Wallace is on now saying Goss leaving by decree of Joshua B. Bolten, and Wallace credits a high White House official with telling him that just moments ago.
