Moussaoui Gets Life in Prison (No Death Penalty for the Ranting Jihadist Looney Tune)

A federal jury decided Wednesday al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui deserves life in prison for his role in the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history, on Sept. 11, 2001.

On the seventh day of deliberation, the jury of nine men and three women informed Judge Leonie Brinkema that it had reached a decision. The verdict was announced at 4:30 p.m. EDT.

Moussaoui, a 37-year-old Frenchman of Moroccan descent, is the only person charged in this country in connection with the suicide jetliner hijackings that killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field.

The verdict came after four years of legal maneuvering and a six-week trial that put jurors on an emotional roller coaster.

The panel of northern Virginia residents was shown gruesome never- before-released images of the carnage that day, heard the first public playing of the cockpit recorder from United Flight 93 whose passengers tried to retake the jet over Pennsylvania, and watched and listened as dozens of victims and relatives described the horrors and losses they had endured.

The nine men and three women deliberated about 40 hours. They had found Moussaoui eligible for execution after more than 16 hours of deliberations in late March and early April.

Although he was in jail on immigration violations on Sept. 11, the jury ruled that lies he told federal agents the month before the attacks kept the government from identifying and stopping some of the hijackers.

"How long before there is a hostage-taking and a demand for the release of Mouusawi?"

This is not the last time we will hear of his name I am sad to say. The damage was done when he was allowed to enter this country. We must think borders, borders, borders. By "borders" I mean borders as well as air and marine ports.

"He wanted to die. To become a martyr. The worse possible punishment for him is to be forgotten."

If he wanted to be dead he'd be dead. The "ignominy" of prision doesn't seem to trouble him too much.

If he WERE dead he would be well on his way to being forgotten.

Alive he is a living, breathing link to the day they struck against "the great satan" and to the gang that did it.

When your enenmy "wants" to die, kill him.

To those who want him kept alive, remember that Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind behind the 1993 WTC bombing is jailed in this country and preaches jihad from a jail cell and is in contact with terrorists around the world.

Ramzi Yousef, mastermind along with Khalid Shaikh Mohammed of the 1993 WTC bombing and the Operation Bojinka plots, is in a maximum-security prison, sentenced to hundreds of years of prison time for his plots. However, he can communicate with Gregory Scarpa Jr., a mob figure in the cell next to him. The FBI sets up a sting operation with Scarpa’s cooperation to learn more of what and whom Yousef knows. Scarpa is given a telephone, and he allows Yousef to use it. However, Yousef uses the sting operation for his own ends, communicating with operatives on the outside in code language without giving away their identities. He attempts to find passports to get co-conspirators into the US, and there is some discussion about imminent attacks on US passenger jets. Realizing the scheme has backfired, the FBI terminates the telephone sting in late 1996, but Yousef manages to keep communicating with the outside world for several more months. The scary part is that his answers to many of the questions put to him would be parroted by any committed Islamist. Their core beliefs include killing or enslaving all Infidels. Insane beliefs don't always indicate insanity (just look at the RAT leadership!).

I agree that killing him will only make a martyr of him. But let him eat pork with his left hand (or starve) and don't tell him which way faces Mecca. No Qu'ran or prayer rug, either.

I believe in civil cases, the defense has greater say. Also, I believe this was a federal case so I think it gets rolled up to the district federal court.

In tort cases, the prosecution gets to choose the court, so to say. That's an important part of tort reform, not being able to select an area in some remote, irrelevant location that will be hostile to the defendants (usually big corporations) but to try the cases in the area where the alleged negligence took place.

They're probably DC-metro-area Liberals. They'd simply shed a tear for our ignorance. And then go and protest against America somewhere and shout that we were at fault for 9/11.

The jurors should be identified and roundly mocked and criticized for their cowardice

Nice comment. Why, for doing their civic duty? Were you there at the trial?

I respect the US legal system and the jury's decision.

Do we have nothing but NUTZOIDS that sit in on trials? This legal system is so screwed up. Mouusawi isn't as big a problem as the enemies & dumb a$$e$ within.

Everytime I hear or read Moussoui's name, I keep getting this little Mickey Mouse tune stuck in my head;

M-O-U....S-S-O...

I say turn him loose.

Just announce ahead of time when and where he will be released. At the scheduled time, throw him out of a van with a big target painted on his butt.

His three meals a day will be halal meals too. It's not like he's gonna be put on a diet of bacon and pork chops.

He'll get to sit on his ass and read the Koran 24/7 too. The Koran is a source of spiritual sustenance for Islamocrazies.

Many of the prisoners at Gitmo read the Koran and it gives them the negative energy to attack our guards, throw urine on them and act uncooperatively.

The jury screwed up bad.

I think they may have given him life because he WANTED to die. What better way to punish him than to deny him his 72 virgins? I'll bet the virgins are all breathing a hearty sigh of relief. :-D
