All of F911's profits went to charity too, LOL. I'd like to see a "Do as I say, not as I do" documentary.

If I could, I would. I'll sell my house to finance it. It needs to be done. ASAP.

"On Saturday we already know the weekend champ? Does this seem right?"

Hey it is only April here and the election for Florida's Senator in November has already been decided.

This isn't exactly a negative.

Look at the numbers....

..United 93 opened in a little over 1000 theaters....

...RV opened in over 3000...

..doesn't that make a difference?

And the review given with it is awful....whoever wrote it.

Just wait....this movie will build from word of mouth.

FReepers from across the country have been reviewing it firsthand and think it very worthy and worthwhile!

The problem is that we can't make that type of film yet, because we're not finished with the war. In fact, we've just started, IMHO.

United 93 was a documentary, in a sense, and it documented exactly how crazy and vicious our enemy is.

You don't have to be finished with the war to do that kind of film. Pearl Harbor didn't finish with the war, they only got up to the Dolittle bombing raids.

I never thought it was negative. Frankly, all things considered, I think it's good, and I agree, it's going to get better.

No argunment from me, but it came along at the right time and fed a strong hunger. It's the most successful film of its kind ever made.

these are only the Friday estimates and they are not finals. I wouldn't get all worked up over Friday results, it's not a date movie. I think it will likely do better on the weekend. I think it will end up at least #2 and has a shot to overtake RV at #1 before the end of the weeekend. We'll see. It probably needs about $18-20mill for #1. Considering the limited release, and the fact that it is more of a small group movie, it is doing fine.

I'm not all worked up! I think this is a good thing.

I'd like to see some celebs come out and say hey, see my movie next week, I'll survive, go see this movie this week, help support the charity. But I guess I'm thinking of a different generation.

People who see this move will tell their friends ...
no! Demand that their friends go see it .
Watch the numbers , this is not a flash in the pan flick.
United 93 will become the most watched film in American history.

I just saw it this afternoon....I am still trying to absorb it.

The silence of the audience I saw it with was incredible...funeral parlor silent.

"United 93 will become the most watched film in American history." That might be a stretch, but I hope so!

Bush should go see it, that would draw attention. He could make a comment too like, "I'd like to see a non-fiction film about 9/11" or some other cheap shot at the people who lined Moore's pockets.

You're not going to like this, but my hunch is...

Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" is probably going to be more successful than "United 93".

For starters, it's about firefighters who SURVIVED the destruction of the towers, so you might leave the theater feeling uplifted. For another, it has actual stars in it, which never hurts box office performance. For yet another, by all accounts, it appears uncontroversial.

Put that all together with the fact that if it is at all good, and as such, is seen as a comeback film for a director who (regardless of your politics) hasn't directed a good movie in years, it'll get some Oscar nominations, and you have yourself the makings of a hit.

Maybe.

All these assumptions about me...hmmm.

The more movies that enlighten people and remind them of what's going on before the next reminder (terror attack) is fine by me, so long as he's honest.

Never even heard of this though, must be just getting underway.

*Shrugs*

$4 Million opening night probably translates to a roughly $13 Million opening weekend and probably a total of a $40 Million domestic gross.

Figure in foreign sales, DVD sales, PPV (though I don't suppose it'll be a popular in-flight movie), and the rest, and we're probably looking at total revenue of $100 Million + on a $15 Million movie - figure in advertising and the like (given the cast, talent participation has got to be minimal), the studio is probably looking at a $50 Million + profit - all on a movie made in far less than a year.

Looking at Box Office Mojo, it opened in less than half the number of theaters that top-grosser "RV" did (1795 vs 3639), yet made 82% of what the top grosser did, with a per-screen gross of $2050 versus RV's $1241

I totally agree .
I hope this film gets screened in the White House , for Mr. President today , if it has not been already.
Very important
