President Bush Job Approval (@ 37%)
Rassmussen ^ | April 29 2006

Posted on 04/29/2006 11:13:54 AM PDT by jmc1969

Public approval of President George W. Bush continues to decline. Today, for the third time in two weeks, the President's Job Approval Rating has fallen to the lowest level ever measured by Rasmussen Reports.

Just 37% of Americans now give the President their Approval, only 16% Strongly Approve. Even among Republicans, approval has tumbled and is currently measured at 66%. For most of his first term, Bush earned Approval Ratings in the high 80s from Republicans.

At the other end of the spectrum, 62% Disapprove including 45% who Strongly Disapprove. Those figures are also the bleakest for President Bush ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports.

...He gave a solemn and respectful nod. I knew that he could see the tears in my eyes and that he really cared...

Gag. You must have really liked Bill Clinton. Gag again!

When you choose all or nothing in this world, you will always, ALWAYS, get nothing.

We're not making an all or nothing proposition. We just want the border secured as is required by the Constitution.

The 911 comission said the terrorists used fake document and immigration fraud to live in the US. Homeland Security says we are going to get hit again (they tend to say this a lot around elections). Given these facts, border security is even more urgent. Yet the gov't has done nothing.

We blame Clinton for 911 because of his wall of separation. If we get hit again, we will similarly blame Bush for leaving the border unprotected.

I keep wondering why this is relevant.

I think it is relevant in that it saps his ability to influence congresscritters on needed legislation. "Political capital" he calls it, and it depends on some measure of public support. Right now his account is in the red.

LOL. Well, I've never heard that before.

I didn't used to be Pollyannaish. I was as smart, witty and cynical as they come. But strangely enough, when I decided to give the pollyanna way a try because things couldn't get any worse...my life got better, the future brighter and things started getting accomplished.

So laugh all you want. Deride me as stupid. But it was one amazingly successful philisophical shift for my life. The smartest thing I EVER did was learn to be positive at the risk of sounding stupid.

Funniest part is that is why, and how, I became conservative.

One thing is for sure. If Republicans think you are doing a bad job they will say so. The opposite is true for Dims. The worse a Democrat is the stronger the Democrat support for him/her is!!

Amen to that.

Most of us would do well to spend more time observing, reading and learning and less time bitching and moaning. That includes me.

However, that wouldn't be nearly as much fun. LOL.

Communication is a complicated thing, and it is bigger and more important than speeches. I am glad you were part of that moment.

Well, I'm glad you're happy now, but perhaps it's not a good thing to look at politics this way.

OK. Believe what you'd like.

I can leave, if you believe that would make this thread better. And I am being serious.

Would you like me to leave this thread?

Actually, I hated clinton and still do. I also hated those who made many of us have to live through that jerks presidency.

It seems that many of those same voting morons, perhaps YOU know who they were, are ready to give us another clinton

Say what you want, but Bush is not clinton.

Perhaps it is the ONLY way to look at politics. You think I am an easy mark and you are more than welcome to go after me. I'm tougher than I look. I also don't mind leaving if you don't want to address this further.

But I have one question. What exactly do you hope to accomplish?

Will it win another convert to your cause? Will it convince me to think differently about the President?

No.

Will it keep me from voting to "send a message?"

No.

Will it force me to vote for the most conservative person I possibly can in the primaries, and then the most conservative person that has a chance at taking the office in the general?

Oh wait, I already do that, so no.

What's left? What is your goal? What do you want to accomplish?

We can disagree but I believe on the whole we will circle the wagons and be there come Nov -

We have to. No matter how disillusioned many of us are with Bush's incompetent handling of the media, his feckless surrender on the border issue, etc, we have to remember that he's not running, and our congresscritters are. And the back alleys are full of vicious hungry 'rats.

Sounds like you've got the Repub election strategery all figured out. Just talk about guns, God and gays...maybe dangle the flag burning amendment again.... and ta-da squeak by again. People are NOT going to fall for "guns,God and gays" this time. Its not going to work any more.

he will stand with Jimmy Carter as having a failed presidency regardless of the economy.

There is a reason why Gergen's beltway nickname, I just learned, is "melonhead."

Just talk about guns, God and gays.

Talk about whatever you want. All I'm saying is, it's stupid to stay home and let the 'rats win Congress, just because you don't like the way Bush is doing his job. The one should have nothing to do with the other.
