Rush Limbaugh's attorney has issued a statement announcing a settlement of the Florida prosecutor's investigation into alleged doctor shopping by Rush Limbaugh.

Details have been read by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Basically, the charge of doctor shopping is dismissed, with some conditions.

In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:

"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."

The actions taken today are as follows:

-- The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.

-- Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of "Not Guilty" with the Court.

The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:

-- Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.

-- After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.

-- Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.

This is good, but it never should have happened in the first place.

She's just repeating what was said on tv.

I don't think that merits the personal attack.

O'Reilly, Savage and the MSM all in unison on Rush. It's nice they don't care about being too obvious. LOL

Rush beats the first two hands down. He doesn't even need to acknowledge them, and he doesn't.

The MSM is a Giant network and he, one man, has given them massive fits and altered the outcome of elections and staged hit pieces many times.

Okay, so I read this and conclusion:

Rush gives nothing up but $30,000 and set $30 in stages. For Rush's net worth not too big a deal. IN context he admitted on air he gave 250,000 to the charity he was promoting today.

The political prosecutor gets a smiling Rush mug shot (Thanks to Delay for the idea! LOL) and his constituents don't have to pay for a prosecution that didn't net them what they were promised. Limbaugh in stripes. Basically they got nothing then they started with. because I guarentee the only ons that are smiling about the mug shot are conservatives.

Seems to me Rush wins.

If the prosecution had the goods, they would have went forward. Any other contention isn't logical. It's not just the Lib district, it's the entire MSM & Dem leadership that wants Rush gone. The prosecution has admitted they weren't going to win this.

Meanwhile it's off Rush's head, no Guilty charge and no guilty plea.

Unfortunately the pills probably did destroy his hearing. Now he has cochlear implants and does fine, but for a while he did his job reading what the caller was saying while he was deaf!

I doubt anyone on the air has every done that before.Especially at his level. That's when he brought Snerdly back again.Limbaugh may well be the consummate broadcaster of all time.

We need to start a “medical oxycotin” ballot initiative...

Since we have “medical” marijuana, we could also go for medical heroine and medical methamphetamine...

I'll bet donuts to dollars that the prosecutor has spent quite a bit more than 30,000 on this dry hole.

Rush is no better than the least of us.

Before God, of course.

But put "the least of us" in front of a microphone, and then try to claim that. "The least of us" aren't going to be in every history book as long as American history is honestly told. "The least of us" haven't changed millions of lives and the course of American culture.

I have known Rush for almost 15 years, up close and personal, the genuine man, and I can tell you that he is truly one of the Greats.

He earned my respect, my loyalty - my awe. I love him.

Other than Ronald Reagan, I cannot think of ANYONE who has moved the needle toward the good, the true and American more than Rush Limbaugh. With that said, we all know he is an imperfect human, like the rest and best of us.

But, the sniping here aimed at Rush is an abomination.

If memory serves, Rush has cochlear implants in both ears ... deafness from an auto-immune disorder not drugs. I use to sell aminoglycosides that could cause deafness, but it is my understanding that Rush's hearing loss was not drug related.

Given the consequences of becoming addicted to pain medications, I think the public would be well served if the meds were not so freely dispensed.

I can't speak for all jurisdictions but around here, pain medicine is very difficult to obtain. Doctors don't prescribe anything strong unless the need is very high (they're a bit more lenient in the hospital where the patient can't jump into a car and drive off).

I went through a spell of extreme back pain a couple of years ago, where I was literally writhing on the floor in pain. I was finally prescribed 12 Hydrocodone, which helped immensely. I was fortunate in that my pain was muscular in nature and I never had to take the full prescription. I still have 3 doses and despite their being expired, I keep them in case the same back issue arises again. Fortunately, I've been able to keep the back in good condition since that incident.

Undoubtedly, no telling how many listeners he will have, I wonder what the record is?

It's ironic so much is made about the talking heads on t.v. but truth is they have only a fraciton of Limbaugh's audience. For instance Chris Matthews is lucky to have a half million viewers on his pathetic show yet the way he is ballyhooed you would think he was a heavy-hitter ratings wise.
