Prominent, respectable Evangelical Christians have told me, not for quotation, that millions of their co-religionists cannot and will not vote for Romney for president solely because he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If Romney is nominated and their abstention results in the election of Hillary Rodham Clinton, that's just too bad. The evangelicals are adamant, saying there is no way Romney can win them over.

You posts are ALWAYS negative about every candidate.
I rarely deal with you because you're so pitifully transparent.
And why are the Biblcail figures all white? It is the Mormon belief that (yes, I read the BOM - at least the first half of it) people who aren't white are cursed - God cursed them by making their skin dark. The original Indians here in the Americas were white as the Queen of England but some of them went down the wrong path and were then cursed with swarthyness by God.
Not trying to smear them - but that's the truth as I know it. And as best I can tell, a lot of the people they wind up recruiting usually don't come from a strong religious background to begin with and their affiliation with LDS has a strong positive effect on their lives - not too different from what evangelicals do.
Your theory doesn't hold true as long as Condi Rice, Linda Lingle (who just voted to EXPAND abortions in Hawaii), and other pubblies with liberal views continue to enjoy oodles of "conservative" support here.
I really don't care what religion or demoniation (well maybe if the person is a Satan worshipper) the candidate is, however, I will vote for the person based upon ideas. If the person has the same ideas and values I will support the candidate... Non issue for me...
Really? News to me. Last time I checked, THIS GUY is politician from the "east coast" with a bunch of freepers swooing over the possiblity of nominating him... though his supporters seem to get around that "problem" by posting pics of him in a phony "cowboy" getup and pretending Virgina is geographically where Texas is.
Or do only the NORTHeast states "count" as "east coast"?
Same here....
Um, no. They tend to be negative regarding some of YOUR candidates, usually because you have a nasty habit of touting RINOs.
"I rarely deal with you because you're so pitifully transparent."
Funny, you kind of read my mind where you're concerned. ;-) Have a nice day, hun !
Absolutely true. Which is why I qualified that post. I certainly don't want to paint that group with a broad brush...my experience is that most of them are NOT that way. Just as you said, there are ALWAYS some.
"Southern" state doncha know.
Bravo ... well said.
You think Mormonism is just another Protestant Christian denomination? Boy do you have a lot to learn...
His religion is none of my concern. The fact that he is from the northeast is enough to concern me.
If they weren't already banned from FR (for other reasons), I could've pinged a couple to this thread for you!
HAR! Posting in bold shows you've already lost. Shout away. You're always negative. You do the work of, or perhaps for, DU.
LOL-- ooops.
I need to learn more about Romney. I have met many Mormons and I never met one I didn't like.
But, as for the Beast.........I would vote for the scum that clings to the sides of my septic tank before I would vote for her and for that matter, ANY lib!!!!! THEY are the enemy of this country.........
religion my a@#!! he sealed his fate when he signed Hillarhea's health care plan for Massachusetts!!
Um, sweetie, since apparently you need everything explained to you, I will enlighten you that I write in bold to distinguish my comments from those I am responding to. Most folks on here adapt a different style. Some use italics, some use bold, some use nothing at all. Now, were I shouting, I WOULD BE WRITING IN CAPS. Surely you cannot be so daft with "netiquette" as to not know the difference.
"You're always negative. You do the work of, or perhaps for, DU."
I'm sorry, sweetie, but I'm not the one advancing RINOs like you. As most of us who actually understand politics know, RINOs are the trojan horses of the 'Rat party. You might keep that in mind, sugar. ;-)
Frankly, my misgivings about a Romney presidency have nothing to do with his being Mormon (all theological misgivings aside). For me, it isn't about the party affiliation, so much as it's about the values. Being a "Republican" politician in a New England state IMO isn't much different than being a Democrat just about anywhere else - and that goes double for Massachusetts. Bad enough he's a politician there - being the governor of that state is a double strike against him!
If it came down to a choice between Romney and Hillary, my first inclination would be to vote Romney - simply because we've already experienced a Hillary White House for eight long years.
