HOWLING MOB The four teenaged punks who chased an NYU student into the path of an oncoming car
New York Post ^ | 4-15-05

The four teenaged punks who chased an NYU student into the path of an oncoming car looked and laughed as he lay on the street dying, a prosecutor revealed yesterday. "They didn't call for an ambulance. They didn't call for help. Rather, they stood on the street corner and laughed," prosecutor Joel Seidemann said of the 13- and 15-year-olds who chased Broderick John Hehman into traffic.

Hehman, 20, died four days later from his massive head injuries.

And the wolf-pack thugs, who allegedly laid in wait for their victim, could have even more to smile about now. Prosecutors lost their bid to try the teens as adults yesterday when their cases were transferred to Manhattan Family Court - where they face about half as much time behind bars if convicted of the top charge against them, felony murder.

Had they been tried as adults, the 15-year-olds would have faced nine years to life behind bars. Now, they face a maximum of five years in "restrictive placement," said Laurence Busching, head of the city Law Department's family court division.

If they're convicted of the lesser charges against them, including manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide, they could get off with as little as 18 months in juvenile detention.

How some of you people can live in a city...ANY city...is beyond my comprehension.

As I sit here in 15 acres of pine forest that's 20-30 minutes from town, I can only say,

AMEN!!

True, and I understand why this is a sore spot for you—still two wrongs don't make it right. I refuse to stoop to the stoopidity of my opponents.

In this case, I think the behavior speaks for itself.

A few points for those outside of new york city. The N.Y. Post is only conservative in the editorial and opinion part of the paper. The perpetrators did make anti-white threats against the white victim. This would have made it easier to prosecute under federal law.The Manhattan's district attorney's office is very liberal.

Yep. Just one more reason I hate the media.

But it still isn't right.

They have them everywhere. Actually, as fast food joints go, I think they have good food. I like their red beans and rice. But I have noticed that the management often lets them become hangouts, and I usually patronize them only at airports. I mean, these young kids were spending the afternoon smoking dope in the Popeye's and the management didn't think to kick them out or call the cops?

You seem like a kind-hearted person......but you picked an accurate screen name.

Such things DO matter. Any more.....since too many of us are sick and tired of hearing how whitey is the root of all evil.........race DOES bloody well matter.

Time for black America to clean its filthy house. Bill Cosby, lib that he is, has it right on this one.

Because I believe in equal justice under the law. If the victim was black, then the white gang members are prosecuted under strong federal Hate Crime legislation. Becasue the victime is white, and the gang members are black, then it is automatically assumed there is no "Hate Crime" involved, and they get off easier.

Eighteen months for murder is pretty easy, wouldn't you agree?

You may be missing my point. (BTW, I think the Duke players are most likely innocent.)

My point is only that race is immaterial in EVERY story such as this. Of course it is useful for illustrating media bias, but there comes a point where we just begin to whine about it and I think we would do better to simply pattern good behavior and leave it be.

Otherwise we are simply adding fuel to a race war—just like the media does. You don't have to agree, I'm just stating my opinion. Bringing it up every single time makes us just as obsessed with it as the msm is.

I don't know more about it than what I read here. And your obsession with their race has distracted me from having much of an opinion on the actual case. Dunno. Sounds like a New York local issue to me.

Either race should be mentioned in every newspaper crime report or in no newspaper crime report.

As has been mentioned, the media only mentions race when it involves white on black crime. In the Duke University affair, it isn't even apparent that a crime was committed, but every article mentions the race of the alleged victim and the team. You are being manipulated by the media.
