Negative view of Islam rising(Poll)

WASHINGTON: Out of five Americans only one has a favourable impression of Islam, revealed a recent poll.

The poll conducted by the US television network, CBS, found that 45 percent of respondents queried April 6-9 said they have an unfavourable view of Islam, a rise from 36 percent in February. The public’s impression of Islam has diminished even more compared with four years ago. In February 2002 - less than six months after the terrorist attacks of September 11 - the country was evenly divided in its impression of Islam.

The new poll showed that only 19 percent had a favourable view of Islam, compared to 30 percent in 2002. While 33 percent had an unfavourable view of Islam in 2002, the percentage has now risen to 45. Thirty-six percent of respondents said they haven’t heard enough or don’t know enough to say either way. The poll finds 46 percent of Americans believe Islam encourages violence more than other religions, compared with 39 percent of Americans who felt that way two months ago and 35 percent who felt that way in March 2002 (according to a Gallup Poll). When compared with some other religions practised in America, positive views of Islam rank below those for mainstream Protestantism, Catholicism, Judaism, and Christian fundamentalist faiths. Only Scientology, of all the religions asked about, ranked lower. As for other faiths, 58 percent had a favourable impression of Protestantism, 48 percent of Catholicism, 47 percent of the Jewish religion, 31 percent of Christian fundamentalist religions, 20 percent of the Mormon religion, 19 percent of Islam, and eight percent of Scientology, the faith followed by Hollywood’s top leading man, Tom Cruise.

If all you ever heard about was Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, the worst quotes of Jerry Falwell taken out of context, pedophile priests, etc., you might get a bad impression, too.

Especially when you add in facts, like less than 3% of Catholic priests have been accused of pedophilia and less than that have been convicted; married Protestant clergy has a rate of accusation three times higher than celibate Catholic priests (both figures from U of Pennsylvania study); many of the "pedophile" offenses were not pedophilia, but homosexual seductions of teenagers (in Europe, these would have been moral outrages but not crimes, since the age of consent in most European nations is 16!).

I do not defend the actions of these priests, but the anti-Catholic nature of the press did not present matters truthfully or in context.

The press is anti-Christian, in general, and that is the point. Perhaps the Catholics have gotten it a little worse of late; I don't want to get into that, here.

I'm surprised it's so low. I'm not sure why everyone doesn't have an unfavorable view of modern Islam.

I hear he's at Yale now preparing for their next campaign blitz.

You and me both. At least it was relatively quick for them.

When will people wake up and quit making excuses for these animals?

CBS poll. Probably oversampled liberals as usual, like the presidential approval ones, so the real numbers are even worse for the ROP.

Cheers

That's part of The Enemey Within™, who are their friends and fellow travelers. They're even more dangerous than the horror called islam.

Remember what Cicero said?

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."

Marcus Tullius Cicero,
Roman Statesman
Speech in the Roman Senate - 42 BC

The more one learns about Islam, the uglier it gets. After being introduced to Allah, Satan begins to look more and more like a harmless little fuzz ball, by comparison.

"ROP is awesome! Beheadings! Suicide Bombers! Murder, rape of Infidels! Riots over cartoons! All converts to Christianity are killed!"

And their legal defense team:

"The ACLU is awesome! Persecution of Christians who celebrate Easter! Constitutional rights denied in favor of secular fascism! Murder and rape of Christians overlooked! Defense for Muslims who riot over cartoons! All converts to Christianity are sued!"

Apparently both groups use the Koran as a reference.

So long as Democrats exist, this fascist barbarism will not only exist, but it will be pandered to.
