Especially when you add in facts, like less than 3% of Catholic priests have been accused of pedophilia and less than that have been convicted; married Protestant clergy has a rate of accusation three times higher than celibate Catholic priests (both figures from U of Pennsylvania study); many of the "pedophile" offenses were not pedophilia, but homosexual seductions of teenagers (in Europe, these would have been moral outrages but not crimes, since the age of consent in most European nations is 16!).
I do not defend the actions of these priests, but the anti-Catholic nature of the press did not present matters truthfully or in context.
The press is anti-Christian, in general, and that is the point. Perhaps the Catholics have gotten it a little worse of late; I don't want to get into that, here.
