Mr. President, I thank Senator Leahy, ranking member on the Judiciary Committee. I have received just this afternoon in my office some disturbing news in the form of correspondence from the Congressional Budget Office. It suggests a number of areas where the amendment we are talking about here today, No. 3424, the immigration so-called compromise, violates our budget and the rules of the Senate. Let me read from the correspondence we have received. This is something, as you know, Mr. President, as a member of the Judiciary Committee, that we never discussed at all. It is not a matter we spent any time at all discussing as we moved forward with legislation which ultimately cleared that committee and came to the floor legislation which I thought was not good legislation and which I opposed, and so did the Senator from Texas, who just relinquished the Chair. We didn't discuss the financial impact of the legislation before us. Stand Up For America ! |

Scott James, a former Tucson Border Patrol agent, resigned after eight years of service, citing a lack of support by the Department of Homeland Security. He said, "U.S. Border Patrol officials provided office space inside their headquarters to Mexican consulate officials, allowed the consulate to dictate the agent's activities and gave the consulate information as to ongoing investigations."
The Pols make it sound as if it would be so difficult to deport 20 million, heck we would all volunteer to do the job wouldn't we??? ;)
And we would get the job done!
Us this when we make our calls! Let them know it will be their rumps come November!
How does Obama-O'Brien 2008 sound?
{Just as bad as Hillary/Gorp}
Democratic Sen. Barack Obama has repeatedly said he doesn't plan to run for president in two years. Yet the freshman senator from Illinois says that if he did, he's already picked a late-night talk show host to appear on the ticket with him.
"I was thinking about you as my running mate," Obama quipped to the host of NBC's "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" on Friday, after being asked again if he plans to launch a presidential bid.
NOTE: Can anyone imagine a President Obama?!?

Pointing to the counter-protesters, who were kept at a short distance by helmeted police officers and two rows of yellow police tape, Gilchrist led his group in a chant, "Go to Hell. Go to Hell."
A pro-immigrant protester yelled back, "You forgot your (KKK) hood." The immigration rights group also chanted: "Minutemen go away. Immigrants are here to stay."
**I need to know if anybody heard this. It is not what I heard. If this was not said, it is slander. Thank you.

Firsthand report:
The rally went okay. There was about 125 in attendance, plus about forty reporters and photographers. The pro-illegal commies numbered about forty. The Capitol police did a good job of establishing a security perimeter. There were no incidents that I'm aware of.
It was very hard to hear the speeches. The sound system was tiny. The chants of the pro-illegal commies easily overpowered the sound system for those who weren't standing close to the podium.
Brian Becker, leader of the Workers World Party front group International ANSWER was hanging with his fellow commies. His bald spot in the back of his head is expanding rapidly. I guess being on the losing side of so many political fights is stressing him out.
After the rally, the two sides stood across from each other, separated by the police and yelled taunts at each other. 94 posted on 05/12/2006 4:20:44 PM CDT by kristinn

For the Naysers Here, you know who you are
While we're on the subject of foreign meddling, there's a related development on the Border Patrol/Minutemen/Mexico story from Sara Carter of the Inland Daily Bulletin
Banshee's Pay attention:
TJ Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, which represents more than 10,000 border agents, said he has no doubt officials share information with the Mexican government and that line agents have been complaining for years about the issue.
Scott James, a former Border Patrol agent stationed in the Tucson sector, said he resigned after eight years in February for that very reason.
James said that agents in his sector were continuously having to deal with the demands of the Mexican consulates, who he said eventually moved into a Border Patrol office at the Nogales station. James added that roughly half a dozen Mexican consular officials shared the Border Patrol office and were privy to agents' investigations because of the close contact. "Of course (Border Patrol officials) are going to deny they are sending information to the Mexican government,'' James said. "I don't think anyone is going to believe their denials. There were directives not to talk to civilian border groups, but if you have any contact with a civilian border group you were supposed to contact your supervisor immediately and report it.''
"I hope there's more than a hearing but a full-blown investigation,'' he said. "I hope it doesn't end there. The federal government has no business sharing the lawful activities of its citizens, especially with one that is riddled with corruption as Mexico is.''
Read this and Weep!
Andy Ramirez, chairman of the Chino-based Friends of the Border Patrol, said he was pleased with the representatives' call for an investigation. He said information posted on the Mexican Web site detailing the location of his volunteer group near San Diego was only given to U.S. Border Patrol officials. "Congress needs to investigate this personally to get to the truth,'' he said.
"As far as the statement of denial from the DHS, I would believe TJ Bonner and the Border Patrol agents before I would believe someone sitting behind a desk in Washington.''
A strong statement from Bush on Monday in defense of our sovereignty would be nice. But I'm not holding my breath...~Malkin
Polipundit already knows what Bush is going to say... I can pretty much sum up what{he}is going to say in his Monday address. Hes said it all before:
I oppose amnesty, placing undocumented workers on the automatic path to citizenship.
Notice that Clintonian weasel word, automatic. Notice his unique definition of amnesty. Undocumented workers (or illegal aliens as they should properly be called) will not get automatic citizenship; therefore theyre not getting amnesty.
Instead they will be allowed to buy US citizenship for $2,000, provided they go to the back of the line, not the front of the line:
But what I do think makes sense is that a person ought to be allowed to get in line. In other words, pay a penalty for being here illegally, commit him or herself to learn English, which is part of the American system (applause) and get in the back of the line.
{He}is proposing to reward 20 million illegal invaders with US citizenship. Yet hell claim to oppose amnesty. This is not new; McCain and Kennedy claim to oppose amnesty too.
Tens of thousands of legal hi-tech guest workers whove been working here for several years are not allowed to join the line for citizenship, at the front or back. The 6 billion decent human beings around the world, who have never violated US or other laws, are not allowed to join the line, at the front or back.
The privilege of joining the line for US citizenship will be reserved for those who can prove that theyve been committing immigration fraud, work fraud, forgery, and perjury for at least five years. Yet, this is supposedly not an amnesty for them...

"The national plan now being pushed by Washington calls for every law enforcement agency to develop a [domestic] intelligence capability. Experts estimate that well over 100 police departments, from big-city operations to small county sheriffs' offices, have now established intelligence units of one kind or another. Hundreds of private detectives are also working alongside federal agents on FBI-run Task Forces, and over 6,000 state and local cops now have federal security clearances, allowing them to see classified intelligence reports."

I don't know why the media calls it anti-illegal immigrant protest... it is a ENFORCE our LAWS protest. anti-illegal. Can NOT believe "illegal" is not the issue and the "immigrant" is... and they are not "immigrants".
