Stunning facts about the proposed immigration bill
NRO ^ | 4-6-06 | Mark Levin

SENATOR SESSIONS ON SECURING AMERICA'S BORDERS ACT

Mr. President, I thank Senator Leahy, ranking member on the Judiciary Committee.

I have received just this afternoon in my office some disturbing news in the form of correspondence from the Congressional Budget Office. It suggests a number of areas where the amendment we are talking about here today, No. 3424, the immigration so-called compromise, violates our budget and the rules of the Senate.

Let me read from the correspondence we have received. This is something, as you know, Mr. President, as a member of the Judiciary Committee, that we never discussed at all. It is not a matter we spent any time at all discussing as we moved forward with legislation which ultimately cleared that committee and came to the floor — legislation which I thought was not good legislation and which I opposed, and so did the Senator from Texas, who just relinquished the Chair. We didn't discuss the financial impact of the legislation before us.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Mexico decriminalizes drugs for personal use, it seems....

This seems like their way of saying that if we won't bend over for them, why should they let Amsterdam make all the money...
One could say, though, "if only the USA would be so bold in the war against drugs, especially seeing how Prohibition didn't work regarding alcohol.... My only real concern is with the potential for brain damage and also car wrecks and such resulting from sudden flashbacks etc., but hopefully decriminalization can lead to better quality products that are less likely to induce such problems. Addiction treatments are more likely to emerge from mainstream sources for legitimately used substances, too...

Che-Mart. Ha! Have you seen the May/June 2006 cover of Communication Arts. Turned him into a regular little nike-pod:

Looking for that image, I came up with the "che-lives" site too ... and THEIR store! I like their store's ad placement for an "authentic Che beret" right above a fashionable Che tank top ... apparently authentic too because he looks like he is wearing it. ;)

Mexico proposes decriminalizing pot and cocaine

Fri Apr 28, 2006 12:49pm ET13

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Owning marijuana, cocaine and even heroin will no longer be a crime in Mexico if the drugs are carried in small amounts for personal use, under legislation passed by the Congress.

Police will not penalize people for possessing up to 5 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of opium, 25 milligrams of heroin or 500 milligrams of cocaine, under a bill passed by senators late on Thursday and earlier approved by the lower house.

People caught with larger quantities of drugs will be treated as narcotics dealers and face increased jail terms under the plan.

The government says the measure allows police to focus on major drug dealers, and President Fox is expected to sign it into law.

"This law provides more judicial tools for authorities to fight crime," presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar said on Friday.

Hundreds of people including several police officers have been killed in the past year as drug cartels battle authorities and compete with each other for control of lucrative cocaine, marijuana and heroin smuggling routes from Mexico into the United States.

The violence has raged mostly in northern Mexico but in recent months has spread south to cities like vacation resort Acapulco.

Under current law, it is up to local judges and police to decide on a case-by-case basis whether people should be prosecuted for possessing small quantities of drugs, a source at the Senate's health commission told Reuters.

"The object of this law is to not put consumers in jail, but rather those who sell and poison," said Sen. Jorge Zermeno of the ruling National Action Party.

Fifty-three senators voted for the bill with 26 votes against it.

Email from Team America:

May Day, May Day

Dear Friend,

Tyson’s Food plants are officially closing on Monday!! They say it is to
support the boycott called by our illegal workers—or could it be there
aren’t enough legal workers on the premises to keep the place operating?
If our man Chertoff wants America to buy into his tough talking posturing,
he’d march his federal agents into the executive suites of the chicken man
and round them up for deportation into the federal prison system.

Then there is the California Democratic Senate—they passed a resolution
supporting Monday’s “Great American Boycott 2006”. To clarify:
Legislators, who are paid by the taxpayers, whose jobs are to represent
the interests of these same taxpayers, are endorsing an effort designed
specifically -to harm these same taxpayers.

Some of the legislators are themselves going to walk off the job. No harm
done here.

Meanwhile the Star Spangled Banner is being translated into Spanish and
rushed into production in time for Monday’s big protest—they say it is a
sign of solidarity! Who is doing the pr for these guys? The Minutemen?

Consider: the street demonstrations of hundreds of thousands of illegals
completely backfired—polls show that Americans are two times more likely
to oppose their demands than support them after seeing the demonstrations.
Wait til they hear the latest version of our national anthem!

Now let me update you on what is happening back here in Washington.

The Senators came back from their Easter break with a clear understanding
that Americans have had it. It’s not that they care about the outrage of
the citizenry over the failure of Washington to stop the illegal invasion.
No, what they want is to pass amnesty. But they have concluded they
can’t do that until they have made some gesture toward the demands of the
masses: border control and enforcement first.

So this week two things happen. Both excellent but need to be kept in
context. The Senate passed nearly $2 billion for border security and
Homeland Security’s Michael Chertoff, cracked down on IFCO, wooden pallet
makers, arresting 1187 illegal workers at their plants and 6 mid
management types.

The question is: Is this Administration suddenly serious about border
security and enforcement---or are they simply appeasing the masses long
enough to get Congress to approve an amnesty for 20 million illegals. The
facts suggest the latter.

On the one hand Secretary Chertoff’s said his department was committed to
going after “employers who knowingly or recklessly hire unauthorized
workers”. But then he said we need to create a legal path for employers
to hire workers on a “temporary basis”. (Read: massive guest worker.)

Considering Mr. Chertoff released most of the arrested illegal workers
before the sun went down we can’t take him too seriously anyway.

So here is what I expect. Next week the Senate will be back to meeting
privately to decide how much of an amnesty they can jam through the
Senate. Then the following week or two they will go for it.

We can’t let them do it.

Our plan—get back on phones! I know you must be tired of calling but it
is working. It’s what got us the $2 billion and the single raid. And
what you see on Monday will convince you all over again how urgently this
nation needs your efforts.

Tell all the Senators you can call and your Congressman: No Amnesty and No
Guest Worker—Tell them you want a fence and serious enforcement, and you
want them now!

Friends, America doesn’t have much time left if we can’t make Washington
do their job. The demands on Monday will be for amnesty for 20 million
people and their families. Our voice must be louder than theirs. Please
call your Senators' offices starting again Monday and don’t stop
calling—America is depending on you as it never has before.

Thank you for all you are doing to save this nation. I’ll report again to
you next week.

Bay Buchanan

Don't Buy Meat This Monday

A Way to Protest Companies that Support Illegal Immigration

Monday is your chance to participate in a counter-boycott. It's simple - don't buy or eat meat that day in protest of these companies, whose employees knowingly hire illegal aliens, collude with immigrant smugglers, break the law with impunity, and give these same illegal aliens the day off so they can demand amnesty as a reward. Are any companies giving American workers the day off Monday to protest amnesty?

Call Seaboard at 1-800-262-7907, Cargill at 1-800-CARGILL (227-4455), Hormel at (507) 437-5611 and Tyson at (479) 290-4000 on Monday to let them you are boycotting them for supporting illegal immigration.

Meat-packing companies including Seaboard and Tyson are closing plants to allow illegal alien workers there the day off, so that they can participate in protests demanding amnesty. Reuters writes that, "Seaboard Corp. said it will close its Guymon, Oklahoma, pork plant on Monday to allow workers to attend rallies planned for that day in support of immigration reform, the company said." And Dow Jones newswire has more coverage of the meat plants shutdown. "Tyson Foods (TSN) will not operate at five of its nine U.S. beef plants and will have four of six pork plants closed Monday due to a potential shortage of workers and current market conditions, a Tyson spokesman said Thursday.

Spokesman Gary Mickelson provided the company's updated slaughter plans to Dow Jones Newswires by email. Immigrant workers have declared May 1 as a day of protest against tough new immigration reform legislation being considered by Congress. The Tyson update puts the number of total U.S. beef plants to be closed Monday to at least 12 and pork plants to at least 14. Slaughter for both species is expected to be reduced to around 50% or less than normal Monday," says Dow Jones.

took the survey so I could vent in the comment box to the RNC

You were much nicer than I was. Way I figure, I've paid my dues in so many ways with the RNC. They are not representing me, nor the party I have belonged to for decades. I have voted straight party so long that now, I am ashamed of myself. They can take their "gold card" and stick it where the sun don't shine. They work for me or they don't. My vote my be only one... but I am a grassroots, pavement pounding go-getter. I will bring others with me. I expect more than this from them, and by golly they better start putting out the product. *I am not going independent because it limits what I can vote in. But, I am sick to death of the way the party is heading.
