Stunning facts about the proposed immigration bill

SENATOR SESSIONS ON SECURING AMERICA'S BORDERS ACT

Mr. President, I thank Senator Leahy, ranking member on the Judiciary Committee.

I have received just this afternoon in my office some disturbing news in the form of correspondence from the Congressional Budget Office. It suggests a number of areas where the amendment we are talking about here today, No. 3424, the immigration so-called compromise, violates our budget and the rules of the Senate.

Let me read from the correspondence we have received. This is something, as you know, Mr. President, as a member of the Judiciary Committee, that we never discussed at all. It is not a matter we spent any time at all discussing as we moved forward with legislation which ultimately cleared that committee and came to the floor — legislation which I thought was not good legislation and which I opposed, and so did the Senator from Texas, who just relinquished the Chair. We didn't discuss the financial impact of the legislation before us.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I think that Tancredo said it best when he stated that we are "importing poverty".

And solving the societal problems for elite/ruling Mexicans.

If the bishops of US sector of the Catholic Church really wanted to
do something about the immigration problem...they'd be calling the Vatican
and asking "when are we gonna' excommunicated the obscenely rich
Mexicans (of Catholic faith) for their role in impoverishing their
countrymen and sending them on a journey to a foreign country?"

But instead, the US bishops decide the real problem is middle America...

How widespread is this being publicized?
Can this get some publicity on big email lists like GOP fundraising lists?
Can somebody get this mentioned on TV?
It'll only be effective if we get a really big response.

These politicians have no intention of enforcing these laws. That's why they are not concerned about the budget. They merely want to cram something down our throats and then pat each other on the back for a job well done.

I literally can't even stand to look at GWB any more.

After 9/11 he had a duty to further protect this country where we are weak. Immigration is our biggest weakness. 95% of the people would have favored strict enforcement of immigration laws after 9/11. He did not do that for obviou$$$$$ reasons.

Were it not for him, this b.s. would not even be discussed.

Ted Kennedy's "bill" is nothing but a scam against the American people. Shame on any Republican who goes along with that.

Stunning! Utterly stunning! You mean to tell me that we are actually supporting illegals via our taxes and social services, and cuts in our own paychecks. Well, I never. You mean all the folks in Washington haven't been helping us CITIZENS, they been hindering? The D.C. lawmakers are such lovely folks, aren't they...

A 1997 study conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies estimated that the 3 million newly legalized aliens in the 1986 amnesty had generated a net fiscal deficit of $24 billion in the short decade that passed since their arrival. The 3 million cost the Government $24 billion. That is a very large sum of money.

Given that the average family income for illegal immigrants is just above the 2006 Federal poverty line of $20,000, it is not surprising that many of these families will likely rely on social service programs to meet their basic needs. That is what we know will occur.

Now, I know that every Senator had access to this information. How can they possibly ignore the huge costs to the taxpayers - their constituents - that amnesty would bring? ps. thanks for the ping!

Illegal Immigrant One-Stop Shop Ping!

JP, I've just come across this...is your thinking to have something sorta like the Threat Matrix thread? A place to come see a recap of the day's Illegal Immigration posts and activities?

I'm off to visit family for the day...I'll check back this evening to see where we can go with this.

> Immigration is our biggest weakness.

Immigrants are not your biggest weakness, mate. People who *choose* to be American aren't a problem at all. They pay taxes just like you do. And they are there, not by accident of birth but by choice.

America is a great Nation built by Immigrants. If you don't like that, well, go home and give it back to the Indians. (They won't complain and will probably do a better job).

I'm an immigrant -- not to America. New Zealand is now my home, by choice. I've paid top tax bracket dollars since landing here. NZ is my home, and I'd fight and die for my right to be a Citizen (which I now am).

No, America's biggest weakness is bigotry. Go read the base of the Statue of Liberty. True or False?

Good morning!

And thanks for the heads up on "DeFace the Nation!"

I'm looking forward to hearing Tancredo tell it how it is.

Tuned in now ...

Tancredo: Amnesty won't pass House.. shamnesty would send a horrible message to legit immigrants.

Becerra: Lauds [and laments] Hagel-Martinez compromise. Fence bad.

Schieffer chastised Tancredo and then abruptly cut off discussion. This was less than a sound-bite! But Tom still looked and sounded good.

Very typical ploy of Schieffer! Shut them up before they say too much. Scumbags!

I think you're right, tho. Tancredo came through loud and clear.

America is a great Nation built by Immigrants. If you don't like that, well, go home and give it back to the Indians.

Between 1925 and 1965 the US took in an average of 250,000 a year. Was that somehow anti-immigrant or wrong because it wasn't the million and half+ immigrating in today, a large percentage of whom are illegals? That's the whole point, we can have immigration but it has to be within reason and in numbers communities can absorb. It's exactly the type of reasoning that's over the head of these politicians in DC and apparently you.

Good morning eveyone, please read this and let me know..

A wall is key to any reform Apr 7, 2006 by Charles Krauthammer

WASHINGTON -- Every sensible immigration policy has two objectives: (1) to regain control of our borders so that it is we who decide who enters, and (2) to find a way to normalize and legalize the situation of the 11 million illegals among us. Start with the second. No one of good will wants to see these 11 million suffer. But the obvious problem is that legalization creates an enormous incentive for new illegals to come. We say, of course, that this will be the very last, very final, never-again, we're-not-kidding-this-time amnesty. The problem is that we say exactly the same thing with every new reform. And everyone knows it's phony.

==================

I think this is a fantastic article by Charles and it does - finally - represent my point of view which has alwasy been "Secure/close the border FIRST, then we can talk about the 11 million already here." The thing is I don't think this is a death issue AT ALL. I think, that the Reps are recharging their batteries and making agreements with the Left AS WE SPEAK. So.. if we are going to put pressure on the Reps, I thinks we should all know what more or less is the consensus among us. Charles represents my point of view... What I consider the only practical way of dealing with this issue font>

==================

I would like to know how you guys feel about his position????
