With unemployment at 4.7%...there can't be too many jobs out there unfilled...but, I can check the local scene here.

Criminal Justice, before that I was in Political Science. God forbid I should have studied something practical. I had intended to be a lawyer and changed my mind.

I think I am to old. I am only 5 foot tall so I have shied away from being a cop.

After I posted that...it hit me.

You may be perfect for a job with Homeland Security...there has got to be something you would like.

My son was going to major in Criminal Justice because at one time he wanted to be an FBI agent.

Of course that is before he became a pilot...but that is beside the point.

def, I seriesly believe with your degree in Criminal Justice and a minor? in Political science...there just has to be a job in DC that you would be very qualified for.

Have you thought about just e-mailing resume after resume??

You might could even freepmail Tony Snow...I have freepmailed him before about personal questions I have had...and he has answered me.

If anyone would know the opportunities or at least a person that would know of the opportunities in Washington, it should be Tony.

Right now you need to be a salesman...and your product is YOU!..and you have to sell yourself.

I do not have a degree...and with kids, I have a less than sparkling work record because I would take years off at a time...BUT, I never got turned down for a job I wanted...even though I wasn't even quailified for some of them, because somehow I sold the person hiring on my ability to learn and my desire to learn.

This is coming from someone who suffers chronic agoraphobia that I developed shortly after my son was born 27 years ago.

You have a HUGH fan club here on FR...and we will cheer you on for anything you try...and pray for you when we aren't cheering...

I think you are at a turning point right now...and perhaps the frustration you are feeling is the deep down you KNOW you don't want to "settle" for a job...you want a career.

You are perfectly welcome to slap me down if I am reading you wrong...and am all wet...I won't be upset.

Being your #1 fan, though...I just wish I could do something to help you.

Thanks for the pep talk. I told myself that everything was OK. I have done that for the 8 years I have been here. It's not OK. I hate it here, but I rarely admit it. I don't want to work in the food business I have settled for it because it's something I can do. I actually minored in American History but that matters little. I never really expected to be here now. My plan was to get married have kids and maybe after they grew up, practice law. So much for my plan! I am not aggressive by nature, I guess I need to work on that. :) I am your biggest fan!

We had a tornado touch down in Roswell....Fulton County...
(or near Roswell)

the wind was horrible... our sirens for Tornado warnings went off at about 3:45 am and then the Chief came on the speaker and told the whole town to take cover immediately...
