Couric Helps Flush CBS Down Toilet
Newsmax ^ | April 5, 2006

Katie Couric's move from the "Today" show to "The CBS Evening News" brings a "journalist" long known for a distinct liberal bias into the anchor chair once occupied by the revered Walter Cronkite.

"Since becoming co-host of NBC's ‘Today' in April 1991, Katie Couric has often used her perch to salute her liberal heroes (including Hillary Clinton and Jimmy Carter) or complain about ‘right-wing conservatives,'" notes the Media Research Center, a media watchdog group.

Here are some other examples of Couric's bias – and bloopers:

It must have been a Freudian slip when Couric said last year that Saddam Hussein had "hopefully" escaped to Syria.

She later claimed that the capture of Saddam was only symbolic.

Speaking again about the mass murderer, she said: "No matter how deplorable Saddam Hussein was considered, he was the ultimate referee who kept the Sunnis and the Shiites apart from killing each other."

Couric promoted a defense fund for notorious child killer Andrea Yates.

Discussing Time magazine's Person of the Year issue, which honored the American soldier, she told editor Jim Kelly: "Tell me why you all decided to honor the American soldier? Wondering why there's no woman on the cover, too?" Kelly pointed to the cover and said: "This is a woman." Couric: "Oh, there you go, oh sorry ... I couldn't tell because of her helmet."

Talking about the 35-hour work week mandated by the French government, Couric told viewers: "So great that young mother being able to come home at three every day and spend that time with her child. Isn't that nice? The French, they've got it right, don't they?"

Did you hear him calling for the pullout from Iraq like he was trying to live the glory again for screwing us in Viet Nam.

Unc' Walt Crankshaft pretty much gave the shaft to the American public during the Viet Nam war.

I read somewhere the commies lost 50,000 during TET... Anyone can verify that statistic?

I can't verify the statistic, but Col. Bui Tin of Gen. Giap's staff stated in a Wall Street Journal interview:

"A: Our losses were staggering and a complete surprise;. Giap later told me that Tet had been a military defeat, though we had gained the planned political advantages when Johnson agreed to negotiate and did not run for re-election. The second and third waves in May and September were, in retrospect, mistakes. Our forces in the South were nearly wiped out by all the fighting in 1968."

Then, they'll hire Star Jones, after "laying off" all the news staff people ...

Probably get more audience amongst the oldsters by hiring Blaze Star. For those of you too young to remember Blaze Star, forget it.

I don't really have a problem with her looks. But her liberal bent helped drive me to Fox News as soon as my cable company picked it up.

I cannot remember the last time I watched her, and I am sure that only an accidental viewing will account for the next time that I do.

Never trust a Liberal with your money or your safety.

Don't forget the Edsel.

I agree with the appraisal that she will take CBS down the toilet in the ratings. But since CBS management has been consistently stupid in what it puts on the air as news, and its ignorance of the needs and wants of its would-be audience, the Couric choice is entirely logical. Foolish and self-destructive, yes -- but logical in CBS terms.

This is, perhaps, the ultimate example of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

P.S. I have an early primary for Congress in the 11th District of North Carolina, 2 May, less than a month away. Please visit my website in the tagline, and help however you can.

Katie went to CBS??

Katie went to CBS!?!?!?!?!?

Yahooooooo!!!!

I am a victim of living so far out in the boonies that the only station I pick up is NBC and therefore, have had to suffer through too many Today Show episodes.

I especially thought it was funny when Katie wore black with pearls the day after GW won the 2000 election.

Glad to hear that she is on a station I don't get.

Tet was arguably our biggest victory of the war. They surprised attacked and we still slaughtered them. The commie forces were hurt very badly at the time. Of course it didn't matter because that was the biggest BS I've ever heard of. You don't send Americans to die in a war when you refuse to attack your enemies until they cross the right border. We should have invaded north Vietnam if we were going to do it. You can't fight a defensive war forever.

I agree completely with your post. Cronkite is the WORST sort of traitor. That lying, self-important bastard should be put against a wall and shot.

Not true. Cronkite is a hard-core leftist, just like his replacements.

I don't see where every body thinks she's pretty or cute.

Me neither, but for the record, I believe she's - Perky Katie Couric.

I suppose in a twisted sense of the word, that's correct.

Where is he now?

Last I heard of him, he was spouting some racist drivel some months back.

Before that, he was on the Skiffy Channel doing "documentaries"
about UFOs.
