Couric Helps Flush CBS Down Toilet
Newsmax ^ | April 5, 2006

Katie Couric's move from the "Today" show to "The CBS Evening News" brings a "journalist" long known for a distinct liberal bias into the anchor chair once occupied by the revered Walter Cronkite.

"Since becoming co-host of NBC's ‘Today' in April 1991, Katie Couric has often used her perch to salute her liberal heroes (including Hillary Clinton and Jimmy Carter) or complain about ‘right-wing conservatives,'" notes the Media Research Center, a media watchdog group.

Here are some other examples of Couric's bias – and bloopers:

It must have been a Freudian slip when Couric said last year that Saddam Hussein had "hopefully" escaped to Syria.

She later claimed that the capture of Saddam was only symbolic.

Speaking again about the mass murderer, she said: "No matter how deplorable Saddam Hussein was considered, he was the ultimate referee who kept the Sunnis and the Shiites apart from killing each other."

Couric promoted a defense fund for notorious child killer Andrea Yates.

Discussing Time magazine's Person of the Year issue, which honored the American soldier, she told editor Jim Kelly: "Tell me why you all decided to honor the American soldier? Wondering why there's no woman on the cover, too?" Kelly pointed to the cover and said: "This is a woman." Couric: "Oh, there you go, oh sorry ... I couldn't tell because of her helmet."

Talking about the 35-hour work week mandated by the French government, Couric told viewers: "So great that young mother being able to come home at three every day and spend that time with her child. Isn't that nice? The French, they've got it right, don't they?"

Shes a mean little marxist to the core. It will come through the tv the first week shes on the air. This will be the second worst business decision ever made. "New Coke" being the #1.

So how is this different form what Murrow, Cronkite, Rather, and Schieffer have been doing?

Wishful thinking on cBS's part. She'll not pull them out of the sh*tter...'cause she's nothing but just another piece of all the turds out there from the left.

I think that Cronkite was the biggest liar of them all when he was selling the news. Did you hear him calling for the pullout from Iraq like he was trying to live the glory again for screwing us in Viet Nam.

Whadda loon.

My exact thoughts. Notice how interchangeable the networks are now? They are provably the same company, with different franchises.

Remember Dan and Connie Chung? That was going to be the partnership that would rewrite tv news history. How long did that last? Was it even a year?

Katie has a plastic look to her face. She looks like a phoney. I don't see where every body thinks she's pretty or cute.

Katie hit the wall and will be spending many days of her vacation under the knife.

Didn't see it in the list, but was it Katie who speculated there was a problem with air traffic controllers when the second plane hit the WTC on 9/11?

Good column.

Cronkite was a liberal Democrat, but very sneaky about pushing the Democrat agenda. Rather was a liberal Democrat, and not nearly as sneaky as Cronkite at pushing the Democrat agenda. Couric is a liberal Democrat, and is such a simpleton and a lightweight that any attempt by her to be sneaky will be quickly laughed off by the viewing public.

I predict that Couric will be the next Connie Chung.
I give her two years, since CBS will do whatever it can to make this work. Hopefully, this hire can kill CBS News off completely.

I could tell you, but I'd have to shoot you. LOL

You're right of course. The only difference is that they are convinced cutsie Katie can pack them in via her charms.

Charms don't sell when you're delivering the news. She'll have nobody like Matt to reinforce her attempts at humor or the validity of her claims.

I give this about a month before it becomes painfully clear that CBS has finally found the black hole of network news, sucking it's very existance into it, hopefully Katie included.

Ah, she'll aways be able to start a hack sports talk show on cable, that nobody will watch.

Hey, if you had as many surgical procedures as Katie, you face would have a plastic look too.

If only cutie and her cohorts would move to France and leave us in peace. I am quite sure America would survive without them.

[Opening the show in September 1999, Couric gleefully said: "Good morning. The Gipper was an airhead!]

Thanks for the insight Couric, now that you're taking over the CBS Comedy News, the viewers will learn the true meaning of an airhead.

Excuse me .. "revered Walter Cronkite"

What's to revere. The man, along with John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, cost the live of about 48,000 soldiers in Vietnam. He did this by LYING ABOUT THE TET OFFENSIVE - and he told the public we had lost that battle. IT WAS AN OUTRAGEOUS LIE. At the time of his statement - we had already lost 10,000 soldiers - but the final count on the Vietnam Memorial Wall is over 58,000.

The guy should have been tried for TREASON.
