Anyone wanna lay odds down on whether the US Attorneys office decides to do little or nothing on this?

Looks like a good way for it to be shuffled off the news pages...and into the trash, to me!

Indict her, make her step down from any leadership post she may hold (assault is a felony after all) while the case winds its painfully slow way through the courts. If it is good enough for Tom DeLay, then certainly a democrat cannot object.

I think they are playing September 10th tactics in a September 11th world.

Me: Its kind of hard to decide where you stand on this but I bet she gets at least community service - $25 to the charity of the winner's choice. ;-)
"Rest assured, I am doing the work they sent me to Washington to do. Nothing is going to keep me away from my responsibilities," she said.
Clintonesque! I'm betting we've learned.

They won't touch McKinney with a 39-1/2 foot pole.

The NAACP is already on the case, crying racism. I don't think anyone's compared this incident to Selma yet, but they're probably just waiting for Jesse and Al to land on it with both feet before playing that card, which should happen by tomorrow. Also by tomorrow, the DUmmies and the Kos Kidz will be banging the bars of their cages and baying at the moon. That will get the media started banging the race drum.

By Wednesday, the rest of the Dims will have picked up the beat and will rally around McKinney, crying about the humiliation and injustice she suffered at the hands of the racist Capitol Police. Maybe they'll stage a cheesy photo-op around some statue of Martin Luther King.

By Thursday, the NYT and the Compost will have weighed in, demanding that the racist Capitol Police be brought to justice and blaming the entire episode on "the fearmongering and xenophobic policies of the Bush Administration." Then they'll demand that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice resign over it, after trumpeting a poll that claims that 80 percent of the American people think the Capitol Police are racists.

By Friday, the US Attorney's Office will announce that they're dropping the charges, the Capitol Police will apologize to McKinney and announce that all their officers will be required to attend ethnic sensitivity and diversity awareness classes, and the officer that McKinney slugged will be handed his walking papers.

If anyone in the House had any nards at all, they would vote to expel her.

I think she should be ejected from the House... the Speaker of the House should demand it...
