World Terrorism: Granny's Googles/News/History/Much Much More.

Europe's botched civilization, perverted by socialism and lost faith, seems to have lost the will, the passion to sustain itself. If it continues to practice today's multiculturalist leftism, Europe's demographic doom will be sealed. Some harbingers:

In Brussels, Belgium, the most popular name for baby boys is now Mohammad. Sustaining the population of a nation requires that on average each couple gives birth to 2.1 children. The average European couple now has fewer than 1.4 babies, compared to 3.6 babies born to the average Muslim immigrant couple in Europe. Across Western Europe 16 to 20 percent of babies are being born into Muslim families. In France at least 12 percent of the population is already Muslim, the fruits mostly of immigrants from former French colonies in North Africa. If present birth trends continue, by 2030 a quarter of France's people will be Muslim, more than enough to determine who controls the national parliament and executive. As this columnist recently noted, the nuclear-armed French military is already 15 percent Muslim. Adjacent Switzerland is now 20 percent Muslim. The German newspaper Deutsche Welle days ago reported that Germany's birth rate in 2005 fell to a level lower than at the end of World War II, to a "historic low," more than fifty percent lower than those of France and Great Britain. But at a meeting this week in Berlin that brought together the interior ministers of six European nations, Germany's leftwing Social Democrats continued to oppose the application of any test or standard that would restrict who could migrate into Germany.

The burgeoning Muslim population within Europe is not evenly spread. It is largely concentrated in and around big cities, whose local politicians feel its pressure acutely and often bend to that pressure. In the Netherlands the cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam nearly have Muslim majorities now.

These Islamic enclaves are already taking on the character of conquered provinces that no longer belong to the European countries around them. As FrontPage Magazine recently quoted from the new book While Europe Slept by liberal American expatriate Bruce Bawer:

In France, a public official met with an imam at the edge of Roubaix's Muslim district out of respect for his declaration of the neighborhood as Islamic territory to which she had no right of access. In Britain, imams have pressed the government to officially designate certain areas of Bradford as being under Muslim, not British, law. In Denmark, Muslim leaders have sought the same kind of control over parts of Copenhagen. And in Belgium, Muslims living in the Brussels neighborhood of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek already view it not as part of Belgium but as an area under Islamic jurisdiction in which Belgians are not welcome.

Riverside Hazmat Teams Respond To Road Spill
Save It E-mail It Print It
(CBS) RUBIDOUX, Calif. Hazardous material teams were investigating a large spill of mysterious liquid on the roadway Sunday after receiving a call around 2 p.m., authorities said.

Apparently there was liquid from three 55-gallon drums on the roadway, said Capt. Jeff Kanov of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The spill happened near the intersection of 34th Street and Crestmore Road.

"We have our hazardous materials response team out there investigating along with the county health department," Kanov said.

The cause of the spill and the exact contents of the liquid were not immediately known, Kanov said.

Safety personnel were still investigating.

Russian Mafia.....

US takes interest in DDoS attacks
3rd April 2006
By Kevin Murphy
Senior levels of the US government are taking an interest in recent distributed denial-of-service attacks against the internet's domain name system, according to a person familiar with the situation.

In recent months, there have been large-scale and ongoing attacks against several DNS infrastructure providers, using a newly discovered method that enables the bad guys to greatly amplify the amount of attack traffic they can throw at their targets.

According to Rodney Joffe, chief technology officer of UltraDNS Corp, this is causing concern from some government officials that these attacks could be used by a certain class of bad guy - the class that has no interest in the continued operation of the internet.

Joffe was due to give a briefing on the topic to a meeting of the Internet Corp for Assigned Names and Numbers in Wellington, New Zealand recently, but was called back to Washington DC at the last minute to brief US officials, apparently including at least one "cabinet level" official.

The concern comes after a series of attacks that are believed to have started in December and spiked in February, but which are ongoing. The attackers have used the DNS as both the target and the weapon, due to a relatively new technique known as DNS amplification.

In a typical distributed DoS attack, the bad guy uses a network of "bots", hacked home computers under his covert control. He typically creates his bots with worms or Trojans spammed via email, though it is possible to simply buy botnet capacity on the black market.

Once the botnet is under his control, the attacker can instruct the machines to send spurious traffic to the target of his choosing. With enough bots, sufficient bandwidth can be amassed to take down smaller sites. The technique is often used to extort money, or in tit-for-tat hacker gang wars.

But with a high-profile target, like a big company or a critical piece of DNS infrastructure such as the .com name servers, the target has to fill bigger pipes, and has more layers of defense to push through, to cause downtime.

DNS amplification attacks use IP address spoofing and a feature of the DNS called recursion to enable the attacker to direct significantly more traffic against their targets, enough to get DNS service providers and their political overseers worried.

"We're seeing some very deliberate attacks against some high profile targets right now, to showcase the talent of the attacker, so they can get work for the Russian mafia or whoever it may be," said Paul Vixie, president of the Internet Systems Consortium, which makes the BIND DNS software.

These amplification attacks work because it is easy for any home PC to spoof its source IP address when it sends out a packet, and because there are millions of DNS servers out there that will answer any DNS query sent to them, using a standard process known as recursion.

For the attack to work, the attacker needs to be in control of a DNS record. This is trivially easy to set up. The TXT field of that record is then filled to capacity, which is about 4,200 bytes. This 4,200-byte chunk of garbage is the sledgehammer that will be used to hit the target.

The attacker instructs his bots to execute lots of requests for the sledgehammer record, against lots of open recursive name servers. The bots spoof the source IP address of these requests, making it look like the address of the target they wish to overload.

The recursive servers grab the 4,200-byte record from the attacker-controlled zone, and send it along to the IP address they think the request came from. They may even cache the data for future requests, making the attack all the more efficient for the attacker.

"In order to create an 8Gbps attack using carefully crafted zones, you need no more than 200 home PCs on basic DSL lines," Joffe said.

That math assumes about 200 bots eating up a full 512Kbps connection with lots of 60-byte DNS queries, each of which is amplified 70x into a 4,200-byte reply against the attacker's target.

To put that in perspective, Russian hacking crews advertise that they will place the malware of your choice on 1,000 bots for a mere $25, according to the Internet Storm Center.

With enough bots, enough requests, and enough recursive servers, attackers can quickly produce denial-of-service conditions at their target. Joffe estimates that about 50,000 recursive name servers were used in recent attacks.

The targets of recent attacks include UltraDNS itself. The company runs the infrastructure for several top-level domains, including .org and .uk, as well as providing DNS redundancy services for big names like Amazon.com and Oracle. VeriSign, which runs .com and .net, has also been hit.

These key parts of the DNS being shut down would be "the closest you could ever get to saying 'the internet is down', and being correct," Joffe said. If .com was taken out of action for a day, billions of dollars would be lost, he said. That's what the US is concerned about.

According to a report of ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee, published recently, there was an attack against a "key TLD [top-level domain] name server operator" on February 5. The aggregate bandwidth deployed against the target was 1Gbps.

Because all the smart TLD operators have multiple name servers in multiple locations, all of which use the same IP address, the attack was spread out such that each interface on each server saw rather less attack traffic, or about 60Mbps.

This operator's first line of defense screened out half the attack packets, but the 30Mbps of attack traffic that made it through represented about 99.7% of all the traffic hitting the servers at that time.

Two days later, a second attack ate up 2.5Gbps of bandwidth. Both attacks lasted 14 minutes, and the operator has determined it was the same attack by the same attackers.

Vixie speculates that these attacks are crackers showing off, in order to get commissioned by organized crime gangs. Joffe said there is some concern that such attacks could be used by groups less interested in extortion than they are interested in disrupting economies. Terrorists, in other words.

As a result of the awareness of these attacks, the non-profit Internet Systems Consortium has been pressured into releasing a new version of BIND, the internet's dominant name server software, that has the recursion features turned off by default for the first time.

But ISC president Vixie insists that this will not solve the fundamental issues. "It's not really going to make any difference," he said. Open DNS recursion isn't the problem, he said, IP address spoofing is the problem.

"If I was in the business of attacking people, you could take away all the open recursive servers on the internet and I would still be able to make this attack sing," said Vixie. "Even if everyone took our new defaults tomorrow... it would still be trivially easy to launch attacks of a very similar nature."

Indeed, IP address spoofing is a problem not restricted to DNS amplification attacks. The watershed Mafiaboy attacks against CNN and eBay in February 2000 used a DDoS technique known as SYN-flooding, which also uses IP spoofing.

The solution, Vixie said, is for source IP validation to be implemented by ISPs. The best mitigation is for broadband providers to "insist that the packets their customers send them are coming from address they're given, and not any damn IP address they like," he said.

"It's not rocket science," he said. Source validation is featured on networking hardware from all the major vendors, such as Cisco and Juniper, Vixie said, but it is generally not turned on, despite years-old best practices documents saying it should be.

ICANN's security committee agrees. "The single action that would most significantly mitigate the effects of the kind of attack [would be for] all network service providers to perform source IP address verification at the edge", the organization said in its report.

This technique is outlined in the Internet Engineering Task Force document RFC 2827, published in May 2000. The document is also known as BCP 38, for Best Current Practices 38. ICANN recommends BCP 38 be adopted by network operators.

"It's very important that CTOs, network operators, ISPs, and those who've got general security roles in networks, that they understand what this weakness is and understand the recommendations on how to configure their equipment," ICANN president Paul Twomey said in a press conference. These recommendations are available for download from icann.org's front page.

Seems things are heating up between the Turks and the Kurds.

I did hear about an explosion (car bomb?) that killed 4 in Turkey. I missed much in terms of news this weekend though.

get the facts correct:Switzerland is now 20 percent Muslim. Wrong Switzerland : Total population: 7.4 million Muslim population: 310,800 (4.2%)

The largest Muslim population is France Total population: 62.3 million Muslim population: Five to six million (8-9.6%)

The problem with articles such as this as they are full of factual inaccuracies, quotes from Islamic crazies that no one even Muslims take seriously i.e the Bradford inham who wanted to install Islamic law in parts of Bradford, usually a clique of self publicity seeking individuals.

1) Europe is taking a stronger and firmer line against immigration.

2)Guest workers are not being allowed to bring in there families.

3) Immigration is becoming a hot topic.

April 3, 2006: Ramzi Yousef, Oklahoma City, and Al Qaeda: Linked in
Documents?

Does an obscure document, hidden among the hundreds of documents
released recently from Iraq and Afghanistan, provide evidence linking Al
Qaeda operative Ramzi Yousef to the Oklahoma City attack on the
MurrahBuilding?

The Arabic-language handwritten document, numbered AFGP-2002-801138,
and available at http://www.ctc.usma.edu/aq/AFGP-2002-801138-Orig.pdf ,
contains a series of pages that were written in what appears to be some
sort of daily planner.

The daily planner appears to be a standard daily calendar/agenda book,
containing a daily calendar for the year 2000. The dates within the
calendar are in English, and have the Islamic dates for each day as well.

The planner appears to be one sold commercially in Pakistan. The early
pages of the planner are printed in English, and contain information
that would be helpful to non-Urdu speaking persons in Pakistan, including
emergency telephone numbers in Karachi, air travel times from Pakistan,
and various other reference guides. It's interesting to note that the
handwriting in the document is all in Arabic, despite the planner's
Pakistani provenance.

A note at the beginning of the document states that the document was
obtained from a "Boot Camp - Class of 2000" in Afghanistan. The term
"Boot Camp" most likely refers to one of the Al Qaeda training camps
operating in Afghanistan in that time period. Dated comments within the
document confirm that the document was most likely written in the year 2000.
Other notes indicate that the document is very likely a compilation of
questions being prepared for use by Osama Bin Laden in the filming of a
new videotape.

The document confirms the links between Al Qaeda and Sheikh Omar Abdul
Rahman, convicted in the US for his role in terrorism planning in New
York City, and Ramzi Yousef, convicted Al Qaeda operative, calling them
"brothers" (see page 122).

In respect to our Brothers who are imprisoned in the United States and
other infidel countries, are there attempts or hope to release them
such as sheikh 'Omar 'Abd Al-Rahman, Ramzi Yousef and others?

And in a series of questions, apparently forming a set from which Bin
Laden can select questions to discuss in a video tape, goes on to
implicate Yousef (and indirectly implicate Al Qaeda) in the April 1995 attack
on Oklahoma City (see page 192).

We hear about the Oklahoma explosion and that it is the largest
explosion in America. Is it the one planned by Ramzi Yousef or not? (Note:
This question was circled and marked with two (X) marks.

The document goes on to pose other questions to Bin Laden with regards
to "the Americans".

One particularly disturbing question discusses rumors of nuclear
weapons and Iraq, implying that Iraq was already in possession of nuclear
missiles in the summer of 2000. It's interesting to note the repeated
references to Iraq even though the document was found in Afghanistan, but
isn't surprising given the fact that many of the "mujahideen" were
actually men from the Arab countries, including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria,
Jordan, and Egypt. (See page 178):

An Iraqi soldier said," America placed missiles with nuclear heads
capability in Kuwait aimed on Russia and that what he saw with his own
eyes. When Saddam occupied Kuwait he took these missiles along with its
transporters and is still in Iraq. The United States is still looking for
these missiles but could not find them because Saddam succeeded in
hiding it. Is this claim true, and what do you think of it?

Many of the questions are quite ominous, and show that rumors of some
sort of large scale attack against the United States was being planned
in the summer of 2000.

What is the news about the battalions you are preparing? Do we have a
role to play in it or not? We asked our instructors but no one gave an
answer in this matter?

Why is there a delay in executing the martyrdom operations against the
Americans?

We heard a lot about the (BATTALION) that will be dispatched from
Afghanistan, are there news about it, and its destination?

Dear Sheikh, we pledged the legend to you to work and join Jihad
movement, we will not let down, we are the soldiers of God. Please explain to
us the importance of martyrdom operations against the American
infidels?

One question is particularly disturbing:

What are the most famous and important American corporations that
handle American interests and where is it located?

Other questions are more indirect - implying that the US of
international "troublemaking".

Is it in the American interest to stir trouble in Iran? I read in a
study that the United States created a Shiite state in case an eastern and
a western Sunnis states clash or not with this Shiite state. The study
concluded that Khumeini was delivered to Tahran during the revolution
by an American combat aircraft?

As more of these documents are released and examined, it is very likely
that we will find not only a wide range of "smoking gun" evidence
regarding earlier terror attacks, but we will likely gain insight into the
minds of Al Qaeda. Hopefully we will be able to translate this insight
into prevention of future terror attacks.

Note: Special thanks to Freeper Peach for pointing out this document to
me.

April 3, 2006: Russian General Staff Chief refuses comment on
Ukraine's transfer of 250 nuclear warheads to Iran

The following report this morning from Interfax addresses the possible
transfer of 250 nuclear warheads to Iran.

Given the news coming out of Iran's war games, this is something that
needs to be seriously investigated.

The "point of no return" in Iran's nuclear program may have long since
come and gone...

Russian General Staff Chief Refuses To Comment on Transfer of Warheads
to Iran

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - Chief of the Russian General Staff Yury
Baluyevsky does not have information confirming Ukraine's alleged
transfer of 250 nuclear warheads to Iran or any other country.

"I do not make comments on unfounded reports. Anyway, the Russian
General Staff does not have information confirming the alleged transfer of
250 nuclear warheads from Ukraine to Iran," he said in Moscow on Monday.

Ukraine transferred several hundred nuclear warheads to Russia in the
early 1990s. Some Russian media outlets claimed that 250 of them were
lost and might have appeared in Iran or some other country.

Most wanted terrorist 'kicked out as leader' for bloody tactics

By Richard Beeston, Diplomatic Editor

Al-Zarqawi is one of the most wanted men in the world. The bounty now
stands
at $25 million (AFP/GETTY IMAGES)

ABU MUSAB AL-ZARQAWI, the most feared commander in the Iraqi
insurgency, may
have been forced to surrender his leadership by rival groups, angered
by his
bloody tactics and the interference of foreign fighters in the Iraqi
conflict.

According to Huthayfah Azzam, the son of Abdullah Azzam, al-Zarqawi’s
former
mentor, the notorious commander of al-Qaeda in Iraq was stripped of his
political duties at a meeting two weeks ago.

“The Iraqi resistance high command asked al-Zarqawi to give up his
political
role and replaced him with an Iraqi because of several mistakes,” said
Mr
Azzam in an interview with al-Arabiya, the Arabic news channel.
“Al-Zarqawi’s role has been limited to military action,” he said.

The fugitive al-Qaeda leader, who has a $25 million American bounty on
his
head, is credited with masterminding some of the bloodiest episodes in
the
Iraqi war, including suicide bombings against the United Nations, Shia
Muslims and US forces and the videotaped execution of Western and other
hostages.

But his tactics have alienated many Iraqis, even those sympathetic to
the
insurgency. Mr Azzam, whose father is known as the “prince of the
Mujahidin”, said that he was accused of “creating an independent group”
in
Iraq, “making political mistakes” and hijacking the Iraqi insurgency
for his
own cause.

The claims could not be confirmed, but they did add to mounting
evidence
that al-Zarqawi has been increasingly isolated over the past months
because
of his ruthless tactics.

In January al-Zarqawi’s al-Qaeda group announced that it was joining
five
other insurgent organisations to form a body called the “Mujahidin
Shura
Council”. Since then al-Qaeda in Iraq, once the most vocal terrorist
group
in the world, has stopped issuing its own statements. Now the council
appears to have demoted al-Zarqawi and replaced him with a relative
unknown,
Abdullah bin Rashid al-Baghdadi.

As for al-Zarqawi, a former petty criminal turned jihad warlord, he has
not
been heard of in public for three months.

The first hint that he had become too extreme even for al-Qaeda came in
a
letter written by Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s No 2, which was
sent
to al-Zarqawi last summer and warned the 39-year-old Jordanian to
change his
tactics.

In the letter, which was intercepted by the Americans and made public,
al-Zawahiri tells his young protégé that executing victims and posting
the
images on the internet had earned him the title “Sheikh of the
Slaughterers”.

“Among the things which the feelings of the Muslim populace who support
you
will never find acceptable are the scenes of slaughtering hostages,”
the
letter said.

Then, in November, al-Zar qawi caused revulsion across the region when
he
orchestrated triple suicide bomb attacks against hotels in Amman,
killing 60
people, including guests attending a Palestinian wedding. Members of
his own
family, including his brother and cousins, publicly disowned him along
with
members of influential Arab tribes.

Al-Zarqawi then faced a humiliating climbdown in December when he was
forced
to drop his opposition to general elections in a clear ideological
split
with the mainstream Sunni Arab population in Iraq, which participated
in the
polls.Certainly today al-Zarqawi is no longer regarded by the
authorities in
Baghdad as the main threat to the country’s stability.

“Al-Zarqawi is finished,” said Bayan Jabor, the Iraqi Interior
Minister,
last week.

“He has only a few supporters left in (the western city of) Ramadi.”

But Western military intelligence sources cautioned that it was far too
soon
to be writing off such an important figure in the shadowy world of the
Iraqi
insurgency. Last year, rumours circulated that al-Zarqawi had been
badly
injured and was dying after a clash with US troops. He later resurfaced
still very much in control of his dedicated group of fighters.

While he may have lost some support among Iraqis he remains a very
experienced commander, a hero among many Islamic militants in the Arab
world
and a formidable opponent, who at one point controlled large swaths of
central and western Iraq.

THE MAKING OF A MUSLIM MILITANT

* Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, 39, grew up in Zarqa, an industrial city north
of
Amman, Jordan. He left Jordan in the l980s to join the Mujahidin in
Afghanistan fighting the Russians

* He was arrested in Jordan in 1992 and was jailed for seven years for
plotting against the government

* In early 2000 al-Zarqawi travelled to Peshawar, in Pakistan, where
he
allegedly first met Osama bin Laden

* He is believed to have masterminded the suicide bombings in Amman on
November 9, 2005, and he might also have been behind the Madrid train
bombings of March 11, 2004. He has also claimed credit for attacks in
Iraq
and the beheading of the American hostage Nicholas Berg

* According to a report in 2005, al-Zarqawi was captured by Iraqi
forces in
2004 and released because they did not recognise him

* The bounty on him is now $25 million

2 Detained for Crossing Bering on Foot

Associated Press

Tuesday, April 04, 2006

By MARIA DANILOVA, Associated Press Writer

Russian authorities have detained an American and a British citizen in
the far east after the pair made a rare crossing by foot of a frozen
56-mile stretch of the Bering Strait, officials said Tuesday.

The two were arrested in Chukotka province for failing to register with
the authorities, Andrei Orlov, spokesman for the Federal Security
Service's (FSB) northeastern border guard division, said on NTV television.
All visitors are required to register with police within three days of
their arrival in Russia, even if they have visas.

Russian authorities did not identify the two or say when they were
arrested.

But one of the adventurers, Briton Karl Bushby, said on his Web site
that he and Dimitry Kieffer of Anchorage, Alaska, reached Chukotka
province Friday. It took them 15 days to walk the 56 miles from Alaska to
Russian territory.

The Web site said Bushby, a 36-year-old former paratrooper, made the
crossing as part of a round-the-world walk that began in 1998 at the
southern tip of South America.

Bushby's father, Keith, of Hereford, England, confirmed the two had
arrived in Russia on Friday and had been detained sometime after that,
though he did not know exactly when.

In a posting dated Friday, March 31, Karl Bushby's Web site said he and
Kieffer were in the village of Uelen, near the point where the Bering
Sea meets the Chukchi Sea, about 560 miles northwest of the provincial
capital Anadyr.

Keith Bushby said the travelers were headed south down the coast en
route to the city of Provideniya, about 380 miles northeast of Anadyr, to
officially register with Russian authorities. But they were stopped on
their way there in the small village of Lavrenty, about 500 miles
northwest of Anadyr.

They did not enter the country at a border crossing, so they had no
stamps in their passports.

"Because they were walking across the Bering Strait, they could not
take the normal route. Consequently, they didn't have the correct stamps
and a landing permit," Keith Bushby told The Associated Press.

"We don't blame the Russian bodyguards because they are doing their
job. Karl fully expected a problem, because he knew this would happen."

He added that his son was feeling fine but was upset that his trip
through Russia could be cut short if the authorities deny him permission to
continue his travels.

"He will be worried that the authorities will not let him walk any
further in Russia," Keith Bushby said.

Orlov said the detained men had Russian business visas but failed to
complete registration procedures as foreigners are required to do. The
pair also had satellite phones, GPS mapping equipment, a video camera and
a pistol, he said.

"So far, the actions of these tourists is unclear, so to speak, and an
investigation is being conducted," Orlov said.

The ITAR-Tass news agency quoted FSB spokesman Vadim Shibayev as saying
the two were accused of illegal border crossing and are currently being
questioned by authorities.

"The American and the Briton did not notify the Russian side through
official channels of their (border) crossing, which not only violated
border legislation, but also put their lives in serious danger," Shibayev
was quoted as saying.

The U.S. Embassy said its consulate in the Russian Pacific port of
Vladivostok was handling the incident, but it could not confirm the
identities of the travelers.

Staff at the British Embassy said they were aware of media reports and
were getting in touch with Russian authorities in Chukotka but could
not verify the information or provide more details.

Bushby wants to be the first person to walk all the way around the
world, his Web site says. Since the beginning of his journey on Nov. 1,
1998, he has covered 17,000 miles, walking through South, Central and
North America.

A Message from al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia Concerning the Arrest of Forty Suspects and the al-Hesbah Network
By SITE Institute
April 4, 2006

Al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia issued a communiqué yesterday, April 3, 2006, which concerns both the recent arrest by Saudi security officers of forty suspects accused of abetting terrorist activity in the state, and their impact on the jihadist Internet community, specifically, the al-Hesbah network. The group states that all claims made by the Saudi government that those arrested managed the group’s statements and multimedia presentations are fallacious. Rather, these people are argued to have little influence and the announcement of their arrest is only to scare the supporters of the mujahideen from using the Internet. In addition, al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia promises to “bring the worshippers good tidings of the surprises that will be released soon, especially a chain of blood that will heal the chests of the believers and irk the infidels and hypocrites.”

Concerning the al-Hesbah Internet network, the group states that reports linking the forum and purported “infiltrators” to fallen mujahideen in Yarmouk are false, and al-Hebsah has “provided great services to the jihad and the mujahideen”. The message states: “We warn the supporters of the Jihad and the Mujahideen to lend no weight to those who are trying to rend the ranks of the Mujahideen and bring fear to their supports.”

Al-Hesbah, before going down on Friday, March 17, 2006, used by thousands of members, was one of the primary forums used by al-Qaeda, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s al-Qaeda in Iraq and other insurgency groups in Iraq, and myriad terrorist organizations that have a presence on the Internet. Membership to the board became very selective over time, employing lengthy screening procedures and member oversight, rarely opening new registration for even limited access, and utilizing passwords.

The Arabic statement and its translation are provided to our Intel Service members.

Al-Qaeda in hacking war, says head of security firm
by Bill Goodwin
Tuesday 4 April 2006
Al-Qaeda is using hacking techniques as part of its war against the US, the head of a security company which works for the US military has claimed.

Paul Innella, chief executive of Tetrad Digital Integrity, told last week's WebSec Conference that a laptop recovered from a terrorist training camp in Afghanistan revealed...

Article Continues Below

... that the group has been researching hacking techniques.

Innella claimed that the laptop contained information on how to map computer networks and exploit software vulnerabilities.

He also said the laptop had software capable of modelling the impact of an attack on a US dam and calculating the damage caused by a breach.

However, Innella said it was unlikely that Al-Qaeda had the capability to conduct a large-scale cyber attack.

The organisation is, however, using the internet to research potential targets and to communicate with members of the group, he said.

"Terrorists are using the internet for viruses, Trojans and research. A good deal of research allowed the 9/11 attacks to succeed," he said.
