Sorry it has been five months since my last update, but then, we have been busy. Let me give you the bottom-line up front (BLUF), and then catch you up on things. Feel free to forward this to whomever, since we still cant seem to get the press to tell folks what is going on. This is how the fight is going from my foxhole, and it is much more than the bombings, US casualties, and rumors of civil war the press seems to be focused on.

Hello Troll. Have you ever considered that maybe the President is correct?

...update from a friend, written by a great American and Infantry officer, it represents his view of things in Iraq
a personal foxhole snapshot from someone over there for ten months. This is not an official report of the Army or the MNF-I, but I thought you might want to post it; its a very telling and inspiring story. But just between you and me and the reading audience, the American media is failing the American peopleand terribly so. Is it just an accident or partisanship? I suspect books will be written on the coverage of this war as much as its conduct.

One time I went to a restaraunt on the water; there was a small dock that was swarming with catfish that knew diners would throw their scraps of food into the water. There were thousands of them. You could throw in anything and see it be eaten within seconds; lemons, cracker wrappers, whatever.
shame they didn't throw you in troll.
The Colonel's Iraq has been confirmed by many others.

I think I saw you at that restaurant, Drone, gulping it with the best of them. One nice thing about the 'Net is that you really can find out who's real and who isn't. If you learn how to use it. You ought to try it.

There are two amazing, nearly inexplicable things about this post: 1) Colonel Ivey's 'foxhole view' of Iraq is exactly the same view as the one in the Oval Office! Bill Ivey is a no kidding infantry officer located in Iraq. See post #24 or google his name yourself for verification. The fact that after close to a year on the ground that what Ivey says about Iraq matches what the President says should--if you had a shred of intellectual honesty--make you re-examine your own beliefs.

Meanwhile the American Army and the rest of our armed forces in this fight is the only thing standing between us and tyranny. One day the American people might understand this, no thanks to the American media of course. The bastard Media..a foreshadowing of much darker & satanic things to come, IMO.

I know about this Colonel; he wrote the letter; it's not White House talking points--they're his talking points.
...I suppose since he's over there, and you aren't, he has some entitlement to speak them.
He has 30 years in the Army, took a direct transfer from Korea to Iraq to serve a higher calling than going around calling himself 'passionlessdrone.'
...'passionlessdrone' --hmmm-- what's that code for:
babbling, ignorant, wenie-liberal that thinks he's fricken smarter than most, but really fears he's just a half-assed shadow of real Americans-- too proud to be a patriot, too scared to change citizenship?
...hey but a great conspiracy post, you should apply to the democrat party as a speechwriter.

Yes, it was a Terrific Article and I think everyone on Capital Hill should read it and weep!! In fact too bad all Americans won't see it! Problem is.....Our Government should be a shinning example for the struggling Iraqi Government and try to be more in One accord. America is so filled with HATE, how can we be a good example of a government of Democracy? I have liberal relatives and friends that all that comes out of their mouths is garbage and that they HATE Bush!! They don't really have anything valid to say or know how to handle the war in Iraq, all they can do is pipe in with the LameStream Media and criticize it. Everything is negative and hateful, and to condones illegals. Truly, it's all about speaking of evil as good and good as evil.
The America, as we once knew it, is now in a world of hurts, the lamers just haven't figured that one out yet!!! Speaking of envasion....folks we've been invaded in more ways than one....and one day, if things don't change, this Nation will fall from within!! Like someone said recently it may take another 9-11, to just all be Americans and STAND together as one Nation again!!!
How soon They forgot!!!
Yes, I've had skin in Iraq for over a year, ready and willing to lay his life down if need be for this Nation, in fact he was in a IED explosion and miracously survived it. These guys and gals are fighting their hearts out for the Iraqi and Afghan people, and they are the Great Example of what America stands for. The Liberals and naysayers should follow the example of our Honorable Troops and become the beacons of light to the world that they are.

Nice response.
>>half-assed shadow of real Americans-- too proud to be a patriot, too scared to change citizenship?
There's a tagline in there. I'd suggest something like:
The American Left - too "proud" to be patriots, too scared to change citizenship

BLUF: We are not, and have not been, on the verge of civil war. We have had an increase in killings by militia groups in the past five weeks, and that is not helping get the new government seated, but we (the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) and Coalition Forces) are far from losing control.Hey Re-Tread ~ whaddya say to this?

If the American public would listen to us that have been there more, there would not be nearly the misconceptions and misinformation that there is about things in Iraq. The worthless lamestream media is a extremely biased (and decidedly anti-republican and anti-military) and a totally unreliable souce of what is really going on overseas.BUMP TO THE FREAKING TOP!
And thank you so much for your service to our country.

The fight against Al Qaida is going well. They have chosen to make Iraq the battleground against the US, and this has enabled us to kill or capture significant numbers of their senior leadership, and put a dent in their funding. They believe they can prevail by killing US Soldiers, and waiting for the US public to tire of the war and casualties, and bring us home. As I talk to Soldiers around Iraq, they overwhelmingly believe in what they are doing and why they are doing it. They know they are winning, and are frustrated by what they see and hear in the news about America questioning why we are here. In my opinion, it is much better to fight these terrorists in Iraq vice in the US.Thank you Tread for making their job that much easier.
