Carroll Says Captors Treated Her Well By MARIAM FAM, Associated Press Writer 21 minutes ago
American reporter Jill Carroll was set free Thursday, nearly three months after she was kidnapped in an ambush that killed her translator, and said she had been treated well.
Carroll apparently was left in the street near the Iraqi Islamic Party offices. She walked inside, and people there called American officials.
"I was treated well, but I don't know why I was kidnapped," Carroll said in a brief interview on Baghdad television.
Even though the group threatened twice in videotapes to kill her, Carroll said, "They never hit me. They never said they would hit me."
During the interview, Carroll wore a light green Islamic headscarf and a gray Arabic robe.
"I'm just happy to be free. I want to be with my family," she was heard to say under the Arabic voiceover.
Carroll said she was kept in a room with a window and a shower, but she did not know where she was. Asked about the circumstances of her release, she said, "They just came to me and said we're going. They didn't tell me what was going on."
In Berlin, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she was "pleased" by the news of Carroll's release.

I wonder if their new MO is to kidnap for the sake of treating well and then releasing, so the world media will speak ill of the war effort?
Yup ... they probably learned a thing or two when that last group of three hostages was rescued, and then not only blasted the war, but also pointedly refused to thank their rescuers.

Which she would later divide with them.

And it looks to be of very FINE cloth, did you notice how well it is made. I did not believe from the beginning she was kidnapped, but part of the scheme to extort money.
She is in a safe situation now being interviewed by our press, take that garb off NOW.

If she was "treated well", why was she crying in terror on camera as if they were going to kill her at any second?
Either she was in real fear for her life (which does not translate to being "treated well"), or she was acting. It's one or the other.
She was making this statement to an Arab TV station in the office of a Sunni political party. It's not as if she was in the US embassy and safe. I'm waiting to hear what she says when she's in US custody. Unfortunately, because of all of the hostage scams, if one is kidnapped in Iraq they must end up beheaded or rescued by the military or they are suspects until proven not guilty.

She was helping tell the story of how bad it was for Iraqi because of those "evil occupiers". They could not have pic a worse target. She should have gone during Saddam's reign.

They put 2 bullets in the head of Jill's translator...
Thanks for reminding me. I wonder how long it'll be before the MSM mentions that little fact?

Right. She was either faking it in her videos (where she was crying in fear), or she's covering up for the terrorists now. It's either-or.
That they killed her translator tells a lot about these terrorists, and that they treated her like a princess (apparently) tells a lot about her.

As a matter of fact, all those "activists" should have gone over to Iraq during Saddam and tried to dig up stories of acts of brutality. Wonder why they were mia?:)

She wears it so she will look like a local and thus, not draw any undue attention to herself, in case there are kidnappers and terrorists about :-)Yes, but this was AFTER she was released and was interviewed about her capture. I am so confused about this.

I do not believe her and that she was kidnapped.I too had the thoughts that she is either one of them, or that they brain washed her. I am very skeptical about this.

I will always believe this to be a set up situation...I think she was in on it and I said at the time if she was released unharmed she was part of the setup....now I will prepare to hear how she wouldn't have been in the situation to begin with if the US hadn't invaded and OCCUPIED the poor little Iraq's... Me too!

Now she can write that book like she has always planned.
Tell us how kind your captors were Jill, after they shot your translator, that is.
