We've done a lousy job of assimilation

We've done a lousy job of assimilation?

I grew up in an immigrant mill city in Massachusetts; and forgive me if I don't remember the part where everyone else was responsible for immigrants' assimilation. It was generally understood that assimilation was the immigrants' responsibility.

Looks to me like we will have our own little Palestinian problem on our southern border accept these will be Mexican nationals who want to overthrow our country. This problem will not be solved by the members of the House and senate, but I wish they would think of this countries future. I hate to think what the Southwest will looklike in 25 years. We may just have a civil war going on here by then.

Nothing is impossible, all that is needed is the will to do so.

"In the several hundred years of European presence in the New World, Mexico only ruled California for 9 years."

I get 25 years: 1821 to 1846.

1821 = Mexican Independence from Spain (including California)

1846 = Declaration of Independent California Republic (June 10, 1846)

Assimilation is a pipe dream in my book, unless you are speaking of us assimilating to there level.

Who is it that's surrendered here? You claim we can't assimilate 10 million mexicans. But we've already assimilated far more Italians, Germans, eastern Europeans.

The difference was that we knew it was necessary. You've surrendered to the PC people who says we must be multicultural. That's BS.

The so called "menial" jobs make them way more than they make in mehico.

Truth to tell; they have 'moved on' from the menial jobs in the tomato fields. Many are working high-wage jobs in construction, and have no interest in working in the tomato fields any more.

California is my biggest example. The change of demograhics in California is what switched the state from being moderate-conservative to solidly liberal. As for Christians, Mexico as a nation is heavily secular, and has been since the 20s, and many of the Catholics in Mexico are sadly influenced by Liberation Theology.

This invasion is a clear and present danger to the US, it is sad your ideals make you blind to the reality that stares you in the face.

I totally agree public schools preach anti-Americanism. The thing is, the La Raza culture is already there to absorb it. Public schools aren't the initial cause.

"I doubt you'd do them at the pay the're getting."

My ancestors certainly did. And in my younger life I definitely did. I moved up.

"Please explain how wanting a better life makes someone a "filthy invader"."

What makes them so is they broke our laws, snuck in, hate us, hate our culture, hate our language, hate our heritage, want to dispossess us.. and so on.

Sorry, they don't get the passive "wanting a better life" label because of the fact of the very aggressive former mentioned realities.

Agreed, 95% of the enforcement effort should be against those who employ illegals, and that in short order would solve 90% of the illegal immigration problem.

A quote from Teddy Roosevelt, back when we had unlimited immigration:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Surrendering to the PC people that we can't assimilate mexicans, so the only answer is to send them back to mexico is nonsense (because it won't happen). We did assimilation before, and we can do it again. We just need to agree that we have no other good options.

The real enemy are the liberals. As usual.

The other item they all have in common: large % of hispanic enrollment

And probably a 100% NEA(teacher union) membership.

The Reagan administration thought we would have another war with mexico over immigration. Its starting to lok more likely. Thankfully, we are far superior militarily to any spanish speaking country. The only problem I could see is china or russia supporting these people in hopes of weakening the US influence in the world. Thats when the nukes will start flying.

Drive them totally loco, off the rails, insane. Force their nationalist hand, in full view of America.

I'm thinking a 'National Mexican Flag Roast' on 'Cinco de Mayo' might prove interesting. Many groups burns the UN flag on October 24th as a form of protest, why not burn the Mexican flag for the same reason?
