Demonstrators march in Los Angeles, California, to protest proposed illegal immigration legislation. Half a million protesters paralyzed downtown Los Angeles, demanding amnesty for undocumented immigrants and rejection of a proposed law that would drastically tighten US immigration rules. Members of the Brotherhood of Undocumented Idiots chanted "GIVE US FREE MEDICAL AND DENTAL!" while playing bongos on Adams Blvd.
Holding tightly to her anchor babies, an unidentified undocumented immigrant explains that she appreciates the free breakfast and lunch program in the Los Angeles Unified School System and is trading in her foodstamps for lotto tickets.
Jesus "Chewy" Sanchez leads the crowd in favorite chant, "ONLY BIGOTS PUT LAWBREAKERS IN JAIL!"
Del Taco employees hold up a sign advertising free taco grandes.
Thousands take to the streets of Los Angeles, Saturday, outraged by congressional bill HR 4437 which dares to infringe upon the rights of illegals to cross the border illegally.
Yolanda Araujo demonstrates how phony I.D. cards are made in any number of shops on Alvarado Street.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaragosa, who flunked the bar exam four times and cannot legally practice law in the state of California, urges the crowd to continue their fight for "the right to come across the border and sponge off U.S. tax payers!"
Protesters demanding the rights of illegals to have same sex marriages in downtown Los Angeles, Saturday. (AP)
Protesters show solidarity with the Los Angeles county jail population, over one quarter of which are illegal immigrants who were felons in Mexico as well.

LOL...you DO have a point.
The reason I asked is...Bush has always campaigned on having a guest worker program...and after 9/11...he still didn't change his mind.
Those that voted for him in 2004 knew that...and STILL voted for him...so in a way, we have no right to gripe that he isn't doing..what he never said he would do.
But, you know what? It is Congress we need to be getting after here...because I can pretty will bet you that they will do little or nothing this year...because neither party is going to want to lose the Hispanic vote.
The good news is....IF Congress comes up with some kind of strict immigration policy, we can be pretty sure Bush won't veto...because on other threads..with people mad at Bush for not vetoing any spending bills..they will tell you he won't!!! LOL

Love your captions! They're a lot better than the real ones. Thank you for finding some humor in this. We need to laugh, even though this is an absolutely sickening situation.
On the bright side, I think these protests might be the catalyst that finally causes a lot of Americans to wake up. In church this morning, the sweetest, kindest, gentlest little "church ladies" you ever met were talking about this. They are outraged! They sounded just like Freepers.
This time, those arrogant, lawless, demanding racists and leeches just MAY have pushed their luck too far.

Ya think once they've ruined CA (and AZ, TX, N Mex....) they'll be content?THANK YOU for saying that. I'm so tired of Freepers saying, "Let California go, good riddance!" Just like when this problem started getting real bad here, and we Californians sounded the alarm, how did many of the people in other states respond? "Ha ha, serves those fruits and nuts in California right!" Well, guess what, chuckleheads? It's coming to your state soon, if it hasn't yet. As California goes, so goes the nation.

But they didn't assume he'd morph the "guest worker" program into a virtual AMNESTY program. NOR, did they expect him to ignore the ongoing illegal invasion.
The President was disingenuous in his parsing of words and the entire matter of illegal aliens, the security of our borders, the Harriet Miers matter -- as well as the Dubai Port dealings.,p>He has lost the trust of conservatives -- and dare I say it -- Republicans.
And anyway, WHO were we supposed to vote for? Kerry??
Neither party is going to want to lose the Hispanic vote.

I'm sorry. NO "strict" immigration policy is forthcoming.
IMO, we've been sold out already. The fix is in. It'll be "amnesty" after six years for ALL who've broken the immigration law.
By 2012 there WILL be a viable Third Party. The GOP has failed us.

What I find interesting is that legal immigrants aren't more upset by the illegals.
Ya ought to hear them on talk radio out here. They are LIVID, as well they SHOULD be!!
Then why are they all out marching in favor of illegal immigration? Huh? Most of those protesting were legals.

My guess.....Marxist groups, Soros money, LA Mayor Antonio Villagrosa (La Raza and MEChA)and Hugo Chavez.

I'm in absolute agreement with you, 100%.
So many posters here are acting like there wasn't a problem before President Bush took the first 'Oath of Office, and everytime I've attempted to make the Bush blamers open their eyes I've been called derogatory names. I've finally come to the conclusion that many here have very short memories or brains whittled out of ironwood. Illegal immigration has been a long ongoing problem since my family and I first moved to California. When originally we moved here we were overlooking the ocean. The illegals moved into the neighbourhood along with there crime and corruption so we moved further inland away from them. Four moves later because of the same problems we are now living close to the AZ NV borders, way out in the 'boonies' and once again they're starting to crowd us out and the mounting crime and corruption figures are staggering. We're now starting to look once again for a safer place or State to move to, but it seems there is no such place. Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think a 1500lb weapon safe would become part of my bedroom furniture and what was once walks in the park would be replaced by an hours practice at the shooting range, but that's what it's come too.
I've spent many an hour just sitting and replaying all that's happened to this nation the last few years (long before 9/11) over in my mind and can only come to one conclusion, Clinton, the do-nothing President, played the citizens of this country for fools and brainwashed the majority with his lies, sickly smile and smooth talk. President Bush on the other hand has always been open with his plans and stuck to them, now everyone wants to lay the blame for all this latest disruption on his shoulders instead of on our own. I'm not saying President Bush is blameless, what I'm saying is he's only one pea in the pod.
My main fear is that this latest illegal immigrant uprising is a well laid out plan to divert our attention away from another possible 9/11. While everyones attention has been focused on the southern border, are the enemy cells setting up their final plans for another WTC disaster in the coming days.? Meanwhile this weekends commotion and uprising has served to cause a very wide rift in the Republican party and I have to wonder how this news is effecting the moral of our troops in Iraq especially with the presence of Hitlery, Schumer and clan in their midst spewing their lies.
Unless we put the brakes on, regroup and fight as one unit, we're headed for disaster under the rule of the Dem party and right now we're making it easy for them to grab control.

"Why are they so idiotic? They know perfectly well that they're dealing with a U.S. President and a U.S. Congress who are all too happy to give them whatever the hell they want, including the country itself.
Seems to me that they're no fools." Of course they aren't fools,
they know damn good and well that for about the last fifty years the USA could be counted upon to cave in for rioters, pay off the barbarians with more welfare and, certainly, stop trying to legislate anything that might upset them. There is little in current history to suggest that anything will change.
Just as the "palestinians" learned from the Zionists, just as today's liberals learned from yesterday's (National) Socialists & union organizers, criminal border crossers (particularly here in LA) learned from the last round of 'urban minority' unrest...
IT WORKS when the other side is managed by a feel-good liberal elite that's afraid to face up to responsibility.
Add to that GWB's built in obligations to mexican interests and the sad fact that cities like LA are willing to elect a mayor who still dresses like a pachuco (check the cut on those trousers)...and they are right in there with a winning strategy.
