Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

My take on it, for what it's worth, is GWB wanted McCain's support on other issues such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. So he signed CFR while expecting the SCOTUS to strike it down, but incredibly, it was upheld.

That is a fair and well stated assessment. Even some of our greatest leaders miscalculated and erred in some of their crucial decisions, based on their own judgments of those who also had sworn oaths to the constitution.
For sure.
I think I can do outrage pretty well--especially at such traitorous idiots.
Bump that, Indy...
Whatever it takes, Jim. we are in it with you, all the way.
Count me in your corner.
I may somewhat over the hill physically but my keyboard is still young.
But, but, how will I keep my beeber stuned?
Too true.
They are artists at making formerly meaningful distinctions meaningless.
They are artists at destroying freedom, family and true fraternity.
They are artists at arrogance, tyranny, selfishness and power mongering.
They are artists at grandiosity, pontificating, self-righteousness, idolatry and murder.
They consider themselves a law unto themselves with no bounds or limits from the 'little people' beneath them.
They will get their just due. But the mayhem between now and then will be hideous.
Thank you, Ernest. I'm reading, trying to play catch-up.
She looked an angel in that picture.
America used to look like that.
Shouldn't DUh be shut down as well? Maybe they'll actually get jobs now.
how long will we be closed? can you provide us with any details?

It is my understanding that if McCain's new proposed campaign finance regulations for the Internet are adapted, we'll not be allowed to transmit certain political messages over the internet or via email for a period of 30 days prior to primary elections and 60 days prior to general elections. There's a lot more to it (details to be released on Monday) but that's a start.
I am so on the phone tomorrow.
In my area, if McCain ever comes to campaign. I will be there. Against him, in my person, in my soul, in my prayers.
He will never sit in the Oval Office.
I heard this quote about a year ago or so, and I think it was attributed to Rove, or maybe Card: "Who cares about the conservatives, they have nowhere else to go."
If that was an accurate quote, then God help us all.
