Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

Another proof there was no evolution!
You ain't seen nothing, kid. Wait until election night. LOL, every time you refresh, another page gets added.
Exactly.
Maybe Jim is tired of taking the lion's share of the weight of activism on his shoulders, and wants to give us a taste of what he's fighting against. Will we show half the gumption Jim has shown over the years? Time will tell.
Just a thought.
You need to take every thing down except a crying post, well monitored with a count down circle.
Can we go to Free Dominion????
This would have been a perfect post 8 days from now except for our FReepathon commencing on the same date.

(snip)
The FEC was expected to publish its proposed Internet regulations yesterday on its Web site. However, the agenda item was listed as "submitted late." When The Washington Times contacted the FEC, it said the item is now scheduled to be posted this morning.

I think you have it. I just read that thread and now see that Jim has edited the original to add the entire text. Yes, Congress critters in both houses are determined to shred the First Amendment more than it already is.
DOWN WITH MCCAIN!
ping!
So, this is what this is about?

They are two of America's free, unregulated voices of political activism but a gathering storm of Washington regulation threatens to stifle them forever.
Grass-roots activists and Internet bloggers, who largely escaped the restrictions of the 2002 McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform act, are the targets of a looming, two-pronged government assault which aims to lasso and corral the last wild mustangs on the political range.
Screw McCain.
Time for some civil disobedience.
Ping!
Now you did it my wife is going to find out we are realy married.
Yup. I have been pretty silent but this is one issue that just won't go away without intervention from all sides of the political spectrum..
There are some in gubamint that are just plain evil and could care less about whose rights they trample in their quest for power.
Whoa! Nobody told me this was a politically oriented forum...
Seriously? NOOOO! What can we do? i'll have withdrawals....
