Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.
Carthago delenda est
If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

The irony of McCain holding Goldwater's Senate seat is especially bitter.
To call the attention-seeking McCain an opportunistic greasy-pole climber is to insult even the worst of the pork-grabbers.
He is sort of the Michael Jackson of politics - McCain always yearns to be a Republican even if he's totally unequipped!
Hmmmmm . . . you mean a class action suit on behalf of the 200,000 plus FREEPERS AND all the lurkers . . . hmmmmm
Is it possible to sue over the THREAT--the "legally" looming threat of loss of Constitutional rights?
How about damages?
Would it be possible for Arizonans to sue McCain for unConstitutional representation?
Maybe we could sponsor a recall effort in AZ just to alert the idiots how serious patriots are taking this issue? If we succeeded, all the better.
. . . just brain storming here . . . what other ideas are there of such a nature?
I have tons of respect for Jim's attitude and position on offshore sites.
I just think that practicality and durability IN ALL CONTINGENCIES is more important for our nation and FREEPERS. Things are so crazy in our era . . . we can't even guess all the crazy contingencies that are even probable, much less possible in the months and years ahead.
I'd just feel better if we had multiple sites HERE AND off shore. Even if it meant FR would survive only 30-90 days longer--that could mean a lot of life and death difference to a lot of individuals and families.
Bump.
A website which is more than 50% devoted to political commentary may fall within some ridiculous parameters governing this particular "law". I doubt that 50% of the commentary on FR is of a strictly political nature--even in the throes of an election cycle. Will this law force every website which hosts political discussions to cease and desist for thirty days? Ba-bye, everyone from wikipedia to soccer.com!
He does seem to be and long has--about as much in bed with the puppet masters as Shrillery . . . playing merely a different role. Hideous.
BTTT!!!!
I think we must work and PRAY EARNESTLY that there be no devil's choice between McCain and Shrillery.
Shrillery is much more evil at heart and more ruthless and determined to rush us into the global government.
But McCain is not THAT far behind. Still, between the two, I'd be very angrily forced to vote for McCain. I wouldn't want Shrillery in the White House under ANY circumstances.
They are such addicted, chronic . . . actors . . . in such matters . . . they'd likely think you were giving them a kind thrill. GRRR.
Roll Call:
Failed 225/182,
26 not voting.
82% of Republicans supporting,
76% of Democrats opposing.
The House is due to bring this up again on March 28th.
The Dems are not going to look good on this issue with the DU'ers if they do not change their minds.
McCain will want to be liked by the popular group. He will be invited to all the One World Events. McCain is a push over.
My position is BOTH/AND.
I'm not rolling over in any way, shape or form. We must fight for all we are worth.
I just want to exercise as many options as possible inas many ways and locations as possible to MAXIMIZE FR'S SURVIVABILITY AND IMPACT regardless of the future NWO generated tyrannical contingencies planned for the future.
This will not be the only crisis we will face.
Open your eyes, buddy. It was REPUBLICAN John McCain, with the help of his leftist Democrat allies, who pushed CFR through Congress. It was REPUBLICANs in the REPUBLICAN-controlled House and Senate who passed the atrocity. It was REPUBLICANs in the REPUBLICAN-controlled Senate leadership who held up the bill for four years, but finally let it be voted on. It was 41 REPUBLICANS in the House of Representatives who voted for it and 10 REPUBLICANS in the Senate who voted for it. It was a REPUBLICAN President who not only refused to veto the unconstitutional travesty, but who signed it into law on March 27th, 2002. Further, it was REPUBLICAN appointed Supreme Court Justices who sided with the liberal activists on the court to uphold all or part of this anti-free speech law.
Not all Republicans are to blame for this atrocity, but you can't come close to pretending that Republican leadership and control of Congress is any sort of effective hedge against this kind of treason against the Constitution. Recent history, in fact the history of this specific law, proves otherwise.
Some sleazy, criminal stuff in AZ would likely haunt him.
But more, he's a puppet master stooge threatened by the light of day and the truth. They have a genetic hostility to freedom in any form and particularly freedom of thought and communication.
I'm not going anywhere and not doing anything special. No offshore servers or napster style software for FR. When the time comes, we keep on posting. Harder and louder than ever.

Jim, do you have total control over your onramp? What Im asking, and am not tech savvy enough to express in tech terms, is; can a third party shut down your site if ordered to do it?
I realize that you would stay up and fight, but if you are at the mercy of a third party to connect to the web, they might not be willing to leave you online.
. . . rocks covered in slug sh*t . . . and thinks it's chocolate.
