The Talk Shows
Sunday, March 19th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Vice President Dick Cheney.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Jack Reed, D-R.I.; Olympic speed skater Joey Cheek.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sens. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Joseph Biden, D-Del.; Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Chalabi; Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah; former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
No doubt this explains the Sunday Shows being preoccupied with Iraq. It is about time to declare it a failure seems to be the major theme. Murtha, Hagel and all the naysayers seem convinced we are defeated.
To prove the point, since there is no news, we now create the news with polls. Imagine, 70% of Americans believe there will be a civil war in Iraq. How these Americans know this seems closely related to how the mainstream media knows we are defeated. That is, no basis for either other than pundit opinion.
Study after study in economics, poliitics and all the human sciences show that pundits are only slight better than chance in predicting outcomes. Never mind, hire them on CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox to tell us what is what.
No news today. That is the real message this Sunday.
Agreed. I'm still not convinced we were/are on the right side of that one in the first place. The genocide was all a lie and the Islamic ethnic cleansing going on today sure isn't making the news.
Today's Poll from Townhall.com:
Who do you want to be the Republican nominee in 2008?

Sam Brownback | (0 %)
Bill Frist | (0 %)
Newt Gingrich | (2 %)
Rudy Giuliani | (1 %)
John McCain | (1 %)
George Pataki | (0 %)
Mitt Romney | (39 %)
Mark Sanford | (0 %)
Rick Santorum | (1 %)
Total Votes: 191670
Get some soft cushions LOL
Admittedly, you guys are tempting me but I'm still resisting the urge to watch the MTP rerun.....
Hey Durbin ... who's side are you on??
Americans or the terrorists???
Or a stress brick
Well then, I may have to tune in for a while.
I wish Wallace would rip Durbin a new one.
Durbin says he will not rule out impeaching the president
I'm not sure if it's tonight, but I remember hearing that FNC is supposed to have a special on Iraq.
I can't remember the guys name that has been embedded in Iraq and filming hours and hours of tape. He was on Tony Snow's radio show earlier this week and was discussing all the great things that are happening over there (which, of course, aren't being reported here).
I hope FNC does a special or 2 w some of his tape when he returns.
What's the betting it will be none of them
Wallace is really holding Durbin's feet to the fire about Feingold's censure proposal. The senator just isn't comfortable answering direct questions directly! LOL. It gets funnier the longer the interview lasts.
Thanks!
Despite the press and the harping doom and gloom Democrats, it appears we remain on track in Iraq.
All right! Wallace is hit or miss. Glad today he is HIT.
You can identify the affiliation of Russert's interviewees with the sound off the TV, just by watching his smiley or frowney face.
Murtha says Iraq is Bush's war. Says they're trying to paint it as progress so they can get out. LOL. He says that they said by now Iraqis would control 75% of the country, but he flew for an hour and a half over desert and didn't see a soul. LOL. They should have had folks out there in that desert, I guess.
Amen!
Murtha now saying this is "Bush's War"
and this is a 'civil war' - less than 1,000 AQ - -how does he know??? IIRC he hasn't even had his stupid self over there!
