Your argument assumes that massive deportation would be possible; the market will have plenty of time to adjust if we can just stop the net increase.

If the person can't cross at a legal point of embarkation/debarkation, he can cross anywhere and has a specific amount of time (if I recall, it's 48 hours) to present himself for inspection.

So, just seeing someone cross in the middle of the desert does not equal witnessing a misdemeanor. I did not know the specifics for that one--I was a street cop.

Also, being a former police officer, what elements are needed to commit a crime?

Generally, the elements are those things that must be proven beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law. They go to the question of (a) being voluntary and (b) being deliberate, knowing, negligent, or reckless in intent.

You should boycott the entire domestic food supply because it depends on illegals,

You fall for urban myths easily, don't you? Tell you what, I have a good friend in Nigeria I will put you in touch with. He has a proposal that will make you rich!

If what you say is true, that there are not many foreign workers in agriculture, then it shouldn't be a problem to increase that number.

They're trying to destroy America.

They already have a good start in California (AKA Mexifornia, illegal alien heaven).

So, just seeing someone cross in the middle of the desert does not equal witnessing a misdemeanor.

It may or may not. For all the observer knows, it could be a US Citizen that got lost.

If the observer does not know, they making an arrest puts the observed in danger of a arrest himself and being sued.

Two young men did this in Yuma and went to jail. The folks they thought they saw commit a crime, did not and were in fact legally in the US.

A citizens best course of action is to call the BP and follow the person until the BP arrives.

I am not bluffing about anything. I also corrected that post to include "not" since I do not resort to personal attacks.

Do you have an answer (yes or no) to my hypothetical question: If you KNEW the Great Depression would be the result, wouldn't you try to avoid another one?

So, no apology then? You do have a good point though. I should have pinged all those people in the first place to ask them to clarify:

Do you want to see all LEGAL immigration to the U.S. stopped?

You brought up seeing if the mods would deem my post to you as a personal attack, I told you to go ahead and do so and why I see that as a good Idea.

Then you say you don't bother with the mods.

Which is it? Why bring it up if you do not intend to follow thru?

Thanks again for your unbiased opinions and just the facts - that's kinda what I was thinking as well on citizen's arrest (but admittedly, that's not even close to my own practice area, so I appreciate the input).

Do you want to see all LEGAL immigration to the U.S. stopped?

As a temporary measure to get a handle on ILLEGAL immigration? Or altogether?

You still don't get it...

Of course if I knew a catastrophe was looming I would do something about it. That is exactly why I have the stance I do about illegal immigration. Indeed it is a catastrophe happening right now.

You can ignore the present and live in the what if world if you want to. What you do is attempt to justify the problems happening NOW with what MIGHT happen IF anyone does anything about it. You even attempt to justify bad behavior with other bad behavior.

Your arguments are weak and your attempted scare about admin's show the weakness you hold.

You make no attempt to debate illegal immigration on its own merits. You cannot show why it is right and proper. All you can do is front up the old lines that have been said for years and years. Mainly that Americans cannot live without foreign illegals. I take that as a slap in the face of all my countrymen. You can claim you make no personal attacks all you want to but in reality you generalize all Americans as incapable boobs that canot function without an illegal labor force.

The very first thing you should do is learn how to respect the law because you cann practice it honestly if you do not start there.

Because I disagreed with your "judgment" that it was not a personal attack - if you want a ruling from the chair, so to speak, I was saying I was fine with that. Reporting it myself is not something I bother with. I think that explanation is pretty clear (again), but if you have more questions, let me know.

Not sure if this was supposed to be directed toward me, because I never said "Americans cannot live without foreign illegals" - in fact, I stated above that America even survived the Great Depression.

The most permanent measures tend to be the ones described as "temporary."

you were saying you were fine with it? YOU BROUGHT IT UP to begin with!!!!

Maybe that is pretty clear to you but I offer you need to clean them glasses and go reread this thread.
