You think ANWR is dead? Well think again, people. (Senate Vote Tonight)
Anwr.org ^

Under the radar screen, the Senate has marked up the 07 budget to include ANRW drilling. There is a vote tonight in the Senate starting around 5pm eastern time on a measure by Maria Cantwell to remove ANRW from the budget. This time it should pass in the Senate before moving on to the House.

All you folks who thought the matter was dead were not paying attention. ANWR is alive and well, and starting tonight, we are one step closer to soaking those Caribou in crude oil. (that is a joke for the humorless among us)

Drill, baby. DRILL!!

Does anybody know how maverick senator John McCain plans on voting?
If he wants the conservative vote, he better shape up.

Hey, where'd you get that picture!!!!!

That one in the front left, that's the one that bit my sister!

Caribou also like the gravel roads and pads oil producers make to get out of the misquitoe swarms in the tundra.

As for your sister, you are probably think of this guy hiding behind that bush.

The following legislative measures are required:

1. Regulations need to change to allow additional refining capacity.
2. The bias against diesel engines in regulations should also be removed. A tax break for purchasing diesel cars should be instituted.
3. Drill ANWR, now.

Regards, Ivan

ANWAR does not equate to much oil.

The most oil per square mile predicted in any undeveloped area in the world of compariable size.

Yeah, not much, just more than anyplace else not already flowing. And it is ANWR, only one "A".

Congressman Mark Kirk is dead set against the drilling

The problem can be traced to the Teapot Dome scandal. It's Federal land, like 60% of Alaska.

Mexico may have just discovered 10 billion barrels of oil in the Gulf. That won't hurt the supply demand curve.

OFFICIAL FR RETRACTION...

Previously, a picture of a pumping station was posted (#7 above) instead of this:

a drilling station.

We at "NordP Enterprises" apologize for our ignorance.

The caption, "DRILL PAST SUNSET BABY" still applies...

Add these as well:

There shall be one standard set of gasoline blends used in the lower 48 states.

As ethanol radically reduces the shelf life of gasoline, it need not be added at the point of refinement.

Whoops. Sorry. But as I said it's estimated gross yields depending on many factores will over a period of 7-10 years before the wells run dry, not amount to any significant amount of oil being extracted. Put another way, it will yield less then a weeks supply of crude oil when comparing the US daily need for oil. That is at least what I had come up with based on earlier articles and visiting petroleum sites, reading the charts, estimates etc.. BUT I am all for the drilling. I hope in no way I had sound like I am in any way against it. In fact as you know, only some 5% of ANWR, is targeted. I say why not open the whole damn place up if it can be proven vast amounts of oil could be extracted at a reasonable cost.

The wells will not run dry in 7 years. We have been flowing from the wells for 30 up here. You making this stuff up. It is ~10 BILLION barrels of oil. If this is not enough oil to be worth producing, name one place in the world that is.

Note: 10.36 Billion is not the total sum of oil expected in the ground. It is the mean value of the technically recoverable oil based on technology that is already being improved.
