Speaking of the Flood of '90, how long are those tetanus shots good for? 7 years?

:)

Last Night

St. Mary MO had the F3 that was down on the ground for 6 minutes there. It jumped the Mississippi River and moved through part of Chester IL and moved up to Steeleville IL. They don't know the F scale of the tornado yet after it crossed the Mississippi River.

St. Mary MO and Chester IL are on the Mississippi River about 80 miles south of St. Louis. Steeleville IL is 15 miles east of Chester, IL in state.

Up until just a few minutes ago only one local Indiana channel had any kind of warning up. Now they all have Tornado warning.

Channel 8 jumped in and said Kentland touchdown..

Warning right now is for White, Cass, Huntington and Miami counties.

Scouting and Preparedness are two of the soaps we use for 'brainwashing'. Helps him feel useful instead of a reason to feel scared.

I was born and raised in a suburb of KC (Kansas side) and have only seen one tornado as well. I just moved back from Los Angeles and my fear of twisters is not as it was prior to my moving. Nothing scarier than a large earthquake with no warning.

It is a beautiful home. We spend two days in Springfield so that we could tour the Lincoln home.

We met the national park ranger for our tour just outside the house. There was another family in our tour that had a little boy that was around 5 years old. I could see that this kid was going to be trouble the minute I laid eyes on him. He was being a brat before we even got started. Those of you that haven't had the honor of going through that Lincoln home, the NPS is so fussy about preserving that home that an alarm is triggered if you step off the carpeted tour areas and most of the rooms are protected by banisters railings.

When we entered the Lincoln bedroom I was surprise to see no carpeted pathway or railings to restrict the movements of those on the tour. Well true to form that kid took a flying leap and jumped into the middle of Lincoln's fourposter bed. I thought that I was going to have to give CPR to the NPS ranger. I would have assisted if the ranger decided to do him in, but alas the ranger managed to choke a request to the brat's mother to control the beast(my words).

I saw 2 tornadoes and a few wall clouds in my time there. When I first arrived in N TX from So Cal, the storms would scare the heck out of me. After living in CT for 8yrs, I miss them a lot. Severe weather was one of my first weather obsessions... now that I'm in DC, I'm looking forward to seeing some more storms. ;-)

I have a friend with a 96 year old dad living alone near there.
I did call him to check with the dad.

I just saw a show the other day talking about Dallas and its potential for being damaged in the BILLIONS of dollars if a tornado goes through the heart of town. The glass alone will be a MAJOR problem. It's pretty when it's on buildings, but when it blows out, breaks and crashes?!!!

IIRC (I don't give them at my office) the rule of thumb is tetanus shots are good for 10 years for routine injuries, 5 years for severe ones. 1990 shots would be outdated.
