Thank you for the correction JB!

Now that you mention it, it was '90 that I helped clean the sewage and water out of my brother-in-law's basement along Parkway Drive!

(They cleaned every thing they could, replaced everything they couldn't, and promptly sold the place!)

That loop shows that cell having gone through the SE corner of McLean County, and then right through Paxton (Ford) and Iroquois counties (Watseka).

I grew up in Pontiac (Livingston Co.). Yikes!

It's gonna slice through NW Indiana and maybe make it up into Southern MI!

What is a "wedge" tornado?

A tornado that goes in between your cheeks. Also known as a goose tornado.

These are the scariest kind of supercells. Doesn't take much time for them to form and become an F5 with little or no warning.

Frick, I am jealous of that nasty weather.

No severe weather yet here. Too far east of this part of the state.

Hello,

I really think (wish it wasn't so) that tomorrow will bring plenty of news that we don't want to hear. More than 60 tornado in one day, that is amazing. Stay safe all!

Glad to be here, MOgirl

Activated tornado sirens at Varna, Illinois. This is NE of Peoria by a 15 miles or so.

A friend of mine from my college days at U of Ill is a reporter for the Springfield newspaper. I'll try to reach him tomorrow and see what kind of damage assessment he'll provide.

Most of the storms in TX/OK are pretty run of the mill for that area. The cap held on too long for them to really get smacked. Overall, it looks like we are seeing a transition towards squal lines as opposed to supercells. The low level jet usually cranks late night though, so the risk of tornadoes will continue... I would think (hopefully) the worst is behind us.
