A large tornado has moved through Illinois and has just hit the City of Springfield. Spotters reported a large tornado moved through the city. Damage is being reported. Emergency responders are being called in from surrounding areas.
NWS reports that this was a large wedge tornado.

They are saying on TWC that a lot of the cells in MO have tornadoes in them. You are right -- they did wake up on TWC. Storm chaser tracking a potential deadly tornado in NE OK headed into MO or AR depending on the track.
Many confirmed tornadoes.
Can be severe to very severe from 11 PM to 3 AM. The weather in Springfiel Mo is what will hit us later, This storm is moving at the rate of 50 miles per hour. It will be coming right up I44.
So far it looks like Illinois is really getting hit hard. According to your pic, it looks like only the northwest corner of IN is on the current radar screen.

There is one right behind it coming out of NE OK with a storm chaser following -- tornado is in that one.

I am trying to keep abreast of all the "weather" via the Weather Channel, as I sit here in almost 75 degree heat in mid March!

It seems early -- usually at this time of year they have been hitting TX/OK but it has been so dry around here that there was little moisture when the dry line came through western OK so there wasn't the danger if there had been if we had gulf moisture in our area. It is still 75 here in Norman which is unheard of at this time of year. Our County is right at the edge of the alert but where I live is out of the tornado watch box. Our humidity is only 10% and our winds have died down to 14 mph.
Out here they track tornadoes by the block so at a certain time you know where the tornado will be. TWC could use some lessons. They held a course for storm chasers recently here in Norman. They came from all over the world to learn how to chase storms safely and provide info to those people on the ground in the way of these bad storms.

Just got hold of a friend of mine who lives only a mile or so from that intersection. Debris all over the place and power is out. It sounded like neighbors are walking around surveying the damage. Those of you in Illinois, hang in there.
