But it is what ever you are accustom to dealing with. As a native Californian earthquakes aren't scary to me. But tornado's terrify me. Unfortunately we had tornado watches and warning follow us all across the country when we traversed the U.S in 2001. Those wittle tent trailers do not have storm cellars so I wasn't feeling very secure most nights.

Springfield, Illinois is closed. All interstates into city are shut down.

Terrible situation in Springfield and MANY MANY other towns. Looks like more than 60 tornadoes so far today.

I'm in northwest Ind toward the central area.

Right now it looks like the first to be hit in Ind will be north of us..like you said near Lafayette.

The tail end of the storm goes way to the south and the whole thing looks like it's big enough to cover the entire state.

I live right along the river. The creeks are the problem and the low-lying areas. The river will be fine.

Supercell moving out of nw Arkansas into sw Missouri. Could be on track toward Springfield, MO.

Temps are staying warm, low 70's, so storm could maintain strength for a while.

Image captured near Rogers, AR of tornado there just moments ago. [Chris in Rogers uploaded this to a local TV station.]

Samantha McGee of Bella Vista, AR, uploaded this image of a hailstone that fell in Bella Vista.

Just got back from a quick beer run to the local convenience store.

The storm sewers are not keeping up. Areas of Jersey Ridge Road that slope downwards have standing water. The intersection of Jersey Ridge and McClellan had about 8-9" of water.

Patrons in the store said that River Drive in Davenport is completely shutdown. The clerk said he had guy come in trying to get across the river to Illinois. He suggested going up to Locust Street and heading toward I-74 in Bettendorf. The guy came back in 10-15 minutes saying that portions of Locust Street have now been closed.

Power out now at Illini Hospital. Running on generators.

Still tons of lightning.

That tornado is headed towards Branson, MO now.

The next cell to the North spawned a tornado that went through Republic and Battlefield just south of Springfield, MO.
