We are not going to kill, expel, or maintain separation from all Muslims and we certainly aren't going to be able to rewrite their religion. Like it or not, they're part of the world we live in. Now, we can encourage cooperative Muslim states that are engaging in peaceable business, or we can provide more fuel in the Muslim world to radicalize and violently oppose the West.
Sure, the knee jerk reaction is to take the simplistic black/white position of wanting to beat part of the world into submission. To bring to bear the great military might that we possess to not only supress but exact revenge - this offers some low level visceral satisfaction. But, history shows us that doesn't work in the long run. This WOT will never have an end date or a victory party, it will melt away gradually after many years. Patience and prudence is required
