"... I asked Ben Moseley, a sophomore who will play Jamie Fodder in the upcoming BSC theater production. I watched his brooding face by the cryptic glow of a single lava lamp, wondering what cognitive discourse was conjuring in the dark, somewhat twisted and disillusioned conduits of his hyper-creative conscience." This is laughably bad, but is what I think passes for good writing in our college campuses. The old 'if one adjective is good, why not use a dozen' school of crackerjack writing!

That's what shocked me when I did a search on his name. I know a lot of people do not put their correct age or location on there. If you put your age as 16 or younger no one can see the pictures you post or your blogs unless you are on their friends list.
I noticed the last time he logged on too, really strange. That kind of gave me chills when I saw the fire theme.

Yes, the author sounds infatuated. I wonder which of the following qualities covers arson?
Ben Moseley is from Grayson Valley, which is an unincorporated sect of Birmingham, Ala.. It is a place where his offbeat sense of humor matured from class prankster to budding theatrical genius. He is in the business of bringing a laugh to any situation on or off the stage with unadulterated, Ritalin-free antics and genuine character.

Not that it's MySpace's fault, but it certainly seems to show up in a lot of teen crime stories lately.
No kidding, r9etb. Aruba was eaten up with MySpace participants as we learned during the Natalee Holloway disappearance. Perps in Aruba pulled their pages down quickly when they got too hot but some Freepers and a couple of other websites saved to their hard drives or found in caches. Wonder what the waybackmachine might have on these two?!

A kid could drop his ice cream cone and some would run out screaming, "Terrorists!"
I think the fed got involved thinking, or hoping, that it was racially motivated, even though nothing pointed to it being that, since the churches were diverse. I figure after the way they got treated with Katrina, they didn't want to appear to be doing nothing on the slight chance it was racially motivated. Nothing like usurping powers of the state for appearances. ;-)

You thought all along it was white young men, didn't you...
I majored in drama in college...when I pledged Alpha Phi Omega (a service fraternity related to the boy scouts), one of my instructors told me I might as well quit the drama department right then. It took me three semesters, but when a director of one of the plays told me I had the lead in the Glass Menagerie", I thought things might work out. But then she made it pretty clear she expected things personally from me that I wasn't willing to give.
There were a couple of nice folks in the drama department I was a part of, but the rest, including the instructors, were some seriously messed-up individuals. I always thought it was interesting that when they couldn't make it in the drama department, many of the students changed their majors to psych.
I ended up being a registered nurse and now the only time my drama history is used is when I'm reading to the jedis in the evening! Heh heh!

Went to that "Ben Moseley" site, too. Save it quickly. Shows a stick figure pouring gas on himself and being engulfed in flames.
Good find, angelsonmyside!

MySpace also shows his home as in Texas. Wonder if he recently moved or if this is another "Ben" with a fire connection?

motive was "thrill seeking" and that the three were "firebugs." Why the Hell didn't they pick a "thrill" closer to Birmingham? These guy were driving half way across Alabama to burn.
Isn't there psychobabble theory about arsonists being sexually inadequate? Now here's a team of three. What would that imply? Just wondering.

I have known several persons with the last name Mosely here in CA and they were black. Has anyone known of a person of that last name that was not? Many surnames are shared by blacks and whites. Africans who were born in this country as slaves chose a name on emancipation, often a European name, since the culture of the time was largely English-Welsh-Scotch-Irish-Dutch-German.

They are afraid that there will be a civil war due to the ongoing ethnic religious battle.
Your post gives me chills. I have heard several unrelated teens and early 20's folk (interns at work/inlaws, etc) mention civil war.
It startled me so much the first time that I thought they were joking.
They were not. Where is this civil war talk from these "utes" bubbling up from?

But you've got to admit that the choice of "...brooding face by the...glow of a single lava lamp...dark..twisted...conscience..." may turn out to add up to a very perceptive description considering why this "guy" has been arrested.

"The sun oozed over the horizon, shoved aside darkness, crept along the greensward, and, with sickly fingers, pushed through the castle window, revealing the pillaged princess, hand at throat, crown asunder, gaping in frenzied horror at the sated, sodden amphibian lying beside her, disbelieving the magnitude of the frog's deception, screaming madly, 'You lied!"

I did think that from the beginning, yes. The theater angle, though, I would never have thought of. Stupid boys. I'm sure they taped this, and the tapes will soon show up.
