"... I asked Ben Moseley, a sophomore who will play Jamie Fodder in the upcoming BSC theater production. I watched his brooding face by the cryptic glow of a single lava lamp, wondering what cognitive discourse was conjuring in the dark, somewhat twisted and disillusioned conduits of his hyper-creative conscience."

This is laughably bad, but is what I think passes for good writing in our college campuses. The old 'if one adjective is good, why not use a dozen' school of crackerjack writing!

But you've got to admit that the choice of "...brooding face by the...glow of a single lava lamp...dark..twisted...conscience..." may turn out to add up to a very perceptive description considering why this "guy" has been arrested.
