Clinton cover-ups (Barrett Report)
Washington Times ^ | 07 Mar 06 | Mark Goodman

Lost in the tumult over Islamic port deals and Katrina video capers is the recently released -- and willfully ignored -- Barrett Report. David Barrett, you'll recall, is the independent counsel appointed in 1995 to investigate allegations of impropriety against President Clinton's Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros. Mr. Barrett found his path mined by the Justice Department, the Internal Revenue Service and President Clinton's attorneys, even after Mr. Clinton departed the White House. He prepared 18 felony indictments against Mr. Cisneros but had to settle for a guilty plea on a misdemeanor charge (lying to the FBI about his mistress, a poor choice for a tax write-off). He sought to prosecute Mr. Cisneros for tax fraud over a period of years but was thwarted by Attorney General Janet Reno. Ultimately Mr. Cisneros resigned his post, whereupon President Clinton, constitutionally bound to men who lie about their mistresses, pardoned him.

Which is why nests of 'rats should be cleaned out ASAP when a new administration takes over.

I can give you 900 FBI file reasons why this will never see the light of day.

--let's not forget this--

And let's not forget what the author of this article seems to have forgotten...this was accomplished with a little help from their Republican friends, the "duped" and not deserving of their office due to "pathetic stupidity" as it has been spun by "our team." Let's not let Kit Bond and Congressman Knollinger off the hook even if they were only doing the bidding of their Republican higher-ups. Plus --let's not forget this-- We were told that ANY congressman or senator could ask for the release of the 120 pp and VOILA! we would get to see those pages. Well, I haven't seen them and neither have you because there isn't one single Republican with the cajones to buck the party and ask to see the stuff, mainly because they know what's in there, i.e. they are just as dirty at using the IRS against their enemies as the Democrats are. Just my guess.

Amen. Both parties do the cover up thing; political operatives do not have the common good in mind when they do their sordid thing.

Right On! Right On! This corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" will continually shove us true conservatives overboard & this will never stop unless conservatives stand up & votes outside of the cartel. Again, what's different between these two factions? These two, bought & paid for by the elites, pols did their duty & the voters will forget about it next election & walk like the sheeple they are & vote them back in.

Well maybe they want to wait until closer to 2008. Why release now when it will be old news in a month or so. It is the same arguments that we give on the port situation where nobody will vote on way or the other because of the ports because it is so far away. I am a bit confused about what Hillary did directly in the Barrett Report that would cause her any problems. Can someone please explain to me (yes I am a bit thick) because when this comes out I don't want people to say well it was just her husband not her so no big deal. You know how MSM is. If this does not cause bombs going off with Hillary's name on them then I just wonder how this will help defeat her. thank you.

You are very welcome!

I hope you have a lot of file space, because there is no end to what she will do.

I just sent my Senator, Kit Bond, a scathing email...I don't expect to hear back from him.

"Clinton cover-ups ..."

I've often thought that a factual documentary of the lives and careers of the Clintons would make a fascinating couple of hours viewing. And it wouldn't require the cut-and-paste editing that characterizes Michael Moore's documentary-style fiction films he creates to support a conclusion rather than arrive at one.

Of course, it would be difficult to gather the facts from the Clintons' partners in crime--many have shown no qualms about lying for them and some have already demonstrated the willingness to do time to protect them-- and it would be impossible to interview those who have already been Arkanicized to protect them--not to mention that it would be very dangerous to the health and welfare of the film makers and their families.

REDACTION LOOPHOLE: ACCESS TO THE BARRETT REPORT

by Mia T, 01.20.06

he judges who redacted 120 pages of the Barrett report have, if not a sense of justice, a sense of humor. In their rulings, they provide a mechanism by which the people can see the redactions, but for which at least one honest, selfless, courageous member of Congress is required.

The way it works: Any member of Congress can see the redactions simply by requesting access, and, unlike Barrett, can publish the redactions "without fear of legal sanction."1

The serious '"culture of corruption" in the clinton DOJ and IRS detailed by the Barrett report makes one wonder about the nature of the crimes and abuse that the clintons felt compelled to redact....

Thanks for checking in. So it's easier for the NYT to publish the Pentagon Papers than it is to get the re-dacted pages on the internet?

Absolutely.

I have come to the conclusion that if McCain had instead of running hard on Bush's left back in 2000...had instead run on his right, and ridiculed Bush on all of his softpedaling...concessions over the Xlintons...challenging over whether anyone was ABOVE the law...and what Bush REALLY thought the Xlintons had done with their stewardship...Get in public rather than swept under the rug.

If GWB had then talked instead about moving on, and bipartisan healing, etc. and more obfuscatory evasions...a stalwart conservative attack would have been LETHAL.
