She died of lung cancer. Haven't found any links yet. Heard it on WLSAM Chicago.
"She said her son has had to deal with his dad dying and his grandmother (her mother - and she said her son was extremely close to her mother) all within a year."
Yes, on top of Christopher's death in October of 2004, her mom died of ovarian cancer in February of 2005. Then she was diagnosed last summer. Terrible trials for this family.
Oh, my. How horrible for their poor son. We should all pray for him.
"I know a little something about the riding "accident". Mr. Reeves was a bit arrogant, as most actors are. Supreme confidence helps you deal with rejection and forge ahead in a tough industry. However, such an attitude when dealing with 1200 pound animals can help you write a check your body can't cash. I've seen him frequently try to perform beyond his abilities horseback."
You're right. Money can buy the best horses, tack and trainers but it can't buy experience. Chris Reeve was the first to admit that he was trying one high risk sport after the other, searching for something missing in his life. Maybe that's why he was so gallant in his actions after the accident, he knew he had no one to blame but himself.
Are you familiar with FR Saddle Club? Join us, if you like talking horse with lots of other ladies with the same interest.
It has been made clear on all the news reports I saw and heard today that she didnt smoke..
I made the mistake of watching first minutes of SeeBS news
they are making her sound like Mother Theresa, sheesh.......
sorry.
Cigarettes.
If her late husband was (understandably) an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, I would not be surprised if she was a toker.
First, briefly addressing the topic, my thoughts go out to the Reeves' young son. I cannot imagine what he's going through at such a young age, and hope he's in good hands. That is, good EARTHLY hands.
Second, I have many reasons for rejecting the Christian theology, and statements such as yours above (and elsewhere in this thread) only confirm that rejection. For I cannot accept any of today's unsupported-by-evidence preaching as a "light" that I have been "given." My life has been interrupted on occasion by Christians "witnessing" something they admit happened 1900+ years before they were born. Like you, they speak with courtesy, passion, conviction, and familiarity with whatever they believe in. What's lacking, however, is any trace of EXPLANATION. Hint: "Just look at the world! It HAD to have been designed by a God, it JUST HAD to," and "Oh, you just gotta have faith, just make that leap and you'll be saved" are not much in the way of explanation. I DO respect your beliefs and mean no rudeness at all, but my only response to such a "light" would be a polite request to quit shining it in my face. And most definitely in the faces of those who recently lost loved ones.
What the??????
There are indeed other things that cause lung cancer.
Who the heck is bashing Kirby? Let me at 'em!!! He's one of the last baseball heroes around. I'm STILLLLLLLLLL
PO'ed at Jim Gray for interviewing Pete Rose when SANDY KOUFAX was on deck to be interviewed. Sandy was one of my idols and I had never seen him interviewed.
"My mom died of lung cancer almost ten years ago and she never smoked."
My great-great grandma lived to be 99 years, 11 months and 15 days old. She smoked a great big pipe every day. If she hadn't smoked, she woould have lived to be 100. :)
The pursuit of the second-hand smoking theory has been a purposeful one thoroughout the ages. The smoking gun in the whole matter was the pursuit to the extent that it cam about in the whole of the matter. However, it was found that contrary to other studies, there was nothing to back up the study except a pickup truck. Therefore, the evidence to the contrary was contrary to the contrary. Mary was happy. Thus, when we can go to the results, they may prove as such, but then again, they may not. Thus, we are thus left to follow our own logic, of which we can go or we can think about the consequences of the consequential actions of those who do the consequences to those in need of going to the results. Therefore one may predispose to suppose about the suppostion about the results which may indicate nothing or nothing of the sort.
"Therefore one may predispose to suppose about the suppostion about the results which may indicate nothing or nothing of the sort."
Well put Moog...I think? Thanks for the bump. Yes, CANCER is just flat-out EVIL. It's sad to think that our bodies can turn on us for no real reason even if we adhere to all of the "do-gooder" advice out there.
And when it does, it's shoots a big old hole in their theory of controlling everything we do "for our own good."
I'm sure that's why the MSM went nuts on Dana Reeve today. How DARE she die of lung cancer without the prickly pear of smoking attached to her left hip? Yeesh.
(I pinged Gabz because we're also attached at the hip, LOL!)
Hehehe:)
My grandpa died of lung cancer too--never smoked a day in his life and was never around SHS.
Although Lung Cancer can be caused by both Smoking (highest risk factor) and Asbestos, those who smoke AND have heavy exposure to asbestos have a HUGE risk. The combination of those two is unbelievably risky.
May she be honored and remembered that way.
LOLOL!
I read that she had only released the news of her lung cancer because she found out some tabloid was going to anyway. She may have had the lung cancer for a while before it was reported, and maybe she didn't go as fast as it seems.
