I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.
I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.
Pass it on...
Wouldn't a boycott draw more attention to something that is obviously waning in it?
That's ok, I will just go ahead and ignore both the Oscars and any boycotts of the oscars.
A formal boycott of the Oscars would be counterproductive - it would draw attention to them. I'm not going to boycott them; I'm just not going to watch them.
I haven't watched those stupid Oscars in many years. I don't evn go to the;movies anyh more.
There's just something about watching a horrible accident though. You say you aren't going to do it, but then your head turns ever so slightly and look at it anyway.
Maybe I need a tinfoil hat, but has anybody else noticed there isn't anything worth watching on TV tonight? Not even "The Simpson's" is on tonight. I think it's a Hollywood conspiracy to make sure the Nielsen's ratings are high for the homo love fest.
What did I do to deserve a boycott?
Oscar who?
Been doing that for years now.
I don't think terrible ratings are really going to stop these people. But it's worth the shot. What can we lose?
For myself, I wouldn't watch the Oscars if I already wasn't watching them.
Most people are setting there vcr's for the last episode of 24 and planning next sunday for the Sopranos. No time for bonesmoking cowboys and socialist traitors.
Why would I waste my time watching something that celebrates stuff that is so far from what I think is worthwhile? Haven't watched them in years.
You know what is going to happen when the rating bomb? Blame it on HOMOPHOBIA -- yeah, that's the ticket.
I haven't watch one of these since Raiders of the Lost Arc lost in 1982. I was a kid and I knew it meant nothing after that. :-)
Hell, I don't even watch TV anymore. It just gets in the way of my FReepin'.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone around here who's planning to watch them.
How can I boycott if I never watch them?
I'd never boycott the Nascars!
Will you watch the Oscars this year?
As of now (1354 West Coast time) the responses are:
Yes. I can't wait to see Jon Stewart, and I love this year's nominees. 46%
No. It's too long, and I don't care about the nominees. 53%
And to think that this poll hasn't been FReep'd yet!
Good idea, but I haven't watched any silly-assed awards shows in many years.
"Does this mean there will be no live thread tonight?"
Hubby wants to see the part where they show all the folks who passed away, I'm curious to see if they do anything special for Shelly Winters. I admit it, I like Shelly, slut that she was, she was easy to make fun of, but she was a very good actress.
Yeah, me too!
